First Fawn of the season!

Was out this morning and saw fresh doe and fawn tracks.

Just had fawn born close to my shop.

last year about this time, I was going in to hunt turkey. I parked by the barn and walked about 20yds and I saw these green eyes shining at me. Thought it was a raccoon until I was about 10ft away. I took a bunch of pictures and then moved on for my hunt.

Is this early or right on track? If the rut is in mid-November, I would have expected most fawning to be about a week away.

I’ve seen them other years mid may to mid June

Last year between May 21-May 27, the doe in my thread :Life of a fawn-part 1(in Photo-Video Shoot section)gave birth to a fawn in Mount Forest area.........i think this is the time,from like mid May on...........

I’m in grey county and they have started having fawns. Last year it was end of July before I saw the first on cam and sets of fawn tracks

Spooked a doe and her tiny little fawn today. Fawn beat milk laden mom across 400 yd hay field

There is usually two breeding seasons, early and late so depending on when the Doe is breed will obviously depend on the birth of the fawns thus the age deference

X2-mature does breed generally Nov,leftover older does and young does breed in Dec.
There is a 3 rd rut,in January too,but it is very subtle.
Eventually the fawns have only so much window to be born-either not to be to early,to avoid affected by late spring(cold ,rain,not enough nutrition)or to be too late -so they do not grow strong enough to survive the next winter.
