    Default Helix 7 transducer issues..

I got a Helix 7, SI, DI G2 this spring. I mounted it as usual. The first two trips out, it worked great. Now, I have lost the bottom reading, even at low speed. It will intermittently start to read, but only 24-27 fow.....I know the water is deeper. Also, the shallow water alarm, which I set at 4 fow, comes on now and again, even in 30fow.
Im thinking it’s a transducer failure....????

Same thing happened with my Hummingbird. I went in to buy another transducer and I ended up buying a new head with transducer. The complete unit was about the same price as a new transducer and it was color whereas my old unit was black and white.

It should still be under warranty .. I would try to get them to replace it. I have a new Helix 8 with all the bells and whistles and have had the hardest time trying to learn all the different things it can do ... I m not greatszt with new technology ... my old finder was 15 years old... going to start watching some u tube videos to see if that can help...

I was in contact with Cabela’s. They say to reset to factory settings and see what happens, then go from there. It is still under warranty.

Well, I finally got out on the lake. I did the factory reset as advised, and it seems to have solved my issue.
Oh, and the walleye were biting too !!

I had the same issue. Before you go through and buying a new transducers like I did and having same issue. How is the condition of your prop on your motor. My had good amount of dents and found out due to the motor cavitating it would cause interference. Once I got a new prop it cleared up. You will lose bottom at high speeds as they say you need a different transducer to deal with that.

you just have to adjust the angle of the transducer to read at speed. My boat goes 32mph maxed out and my $100 garmin striker can read bottom and pick up fish.
