    Default Conservative leadership race

So who watched the leaders debate? Given all the news about the virus, firearms, and record spending I was hoping for more actual substance out of them. Seemed like the usual rhetoric.

I watched a bit of it until it became blatantly "same old, same old". I'm still not convinced that any of them will make a dent in the great RED machine of the socialists. Canada is too far gone down the communist rabbit hole.

None of them don't jump out at me that's for sure..... Can't believe this is the best we have to offer the Canadian people....

I watched them both ( I’m fluently bilingual grew up in Quebec City). Came away disappointed. I don’t like McKay. OToole didn’t do great. Lewis basically can’t communicate in French. Sloan doesn’t have a hope in hell in a center left country like Canada. Lewis is by far the best educated and accomplished candidate. I fear Quebec won’t vote for her and it doesn’t matter if i like her or not if she can’t beat true Dough. I am a member of the party and get a vote. Haven’t decided yet. Definitely not Sloan.

McKay is probably the only one who can beat Justin but since he is considered a "Red Tory" the conservatives will split the vote again and do what they did in the last election.

I found all the candidates rather uninspiring, Mackay and Otoole just argued with each other, Sloan is too aggressive in my opinion, to win over the centre voters. I was also disappointed with Lewis' public speaking, I noticed Sloan sort of helping her along at some points, I think if she could gain some experience in public debate she would be a more viable candidate. I turned it off about halfway through.

I'm not convinced any of them have the right personality to gain traction with younger voters. I think in this day and age they need a puppet with some personality to win more votes.

I think you are 100% right. Younger people pay little attention to policy. To win them over you need to accumulate followers on Twitter. This is done with catchy 50 word posts and good looks.

Well at least a few people took the time watch. I didn’t see anything that makes me think they have chance at winning, and Sheer’s lingering presence isn’t helping the party either. Definitely didn’t see a leader on stage. MacKay will probably win the leadership only to lose at the election. Just my 2 cents.

He will only lose the election because the right will split the vote again.

If that stupid Peoples party did not exist Justin would not have won, there would not have been a gun ban.

The CPC had more votes than the Liberals, with the split. Smarten up and vote based on taking this idiot out.

Personally I find we Canadians unelect a government. I haven’t seen a solid platform in a long time. We tire of the missteps of the ruling party, toss them out and let the next band of merry thieves give it a try only to be disappointed yet again. Toss them out and start again. I was hopeful during the early stages of the virus to see compromises and all parties working together. Alas that lasted all of about 30 seconds. The Order in Council on the firearms ban ridiculous. It isn’t how democracy works.
