It's the kiss of death for local politicians and do they ever know it.

In order to avoid the huge Trespass problem that will result from randomly closing boat launches and river access points, he should have closed fishing in certain Counties or even FMU if that makes it clearer. He issued a very weak recommendation for no essential travel. He didn't even try to define "essential" so the municipalities took it upon themselves to discourage fishing and hunting. Now we could have just crowded more people on to less places.

well back to the topic.... of say "no to fishing"..... IMO is really dumb....as it is and has always been.... fishing is a sport of social distancing...pandemic or no....nobody wants to fish shoulder to shoulder....As far as the nut jobs at fish n-Canada starting a petition...to close fishing....all I can say Is ...pure crazy.
If we can attend a grocery store then the lake is a no brainer....if you want to fish go out and fish...
do the smart thing and avoid people as much as you can... and no kissing the fish....ok!!!!

I don't post much on this forum, and I have been by in a long time to see what's up, but seeing this article I just had to post.
It would have been idiotic to "close" fishing seasons.
Fine, close boat ramps (still stupid in my opinion), close public access locations (We The People of Canada don't have any land rights anyway) - but to close the fishing season would be utterly stupid and accomplish nothing. Like Trudeau's latest gun ban. It won't do anything to improve safety of Canadians.
I understand that many here are duped into the severity of this CV19, even months into it and it isn't anywhere near the super-scary disease they made it out to be. It's this years flu virus. They could have done the same last year, and next year too. Just give it a name and have the media drone on and on about it every day 24/7.
The reaction to CV19 is over-blown by 1000%. But everything they do is by design. If the media told people that wearing underwear on their heads would save them from CV19, you'd see people wearing underwear on their heads.
I know my opinion isn't popular these days - but being right and being popular usually are two different things.
The government and media reaction to CV19 is all about control - nothing about keeping Canadians safe.
Trudeau proved this by breaking his self-imposed quarantine to pander to special interest groups and stand in a group of thousands to do his photo op kneel. Then the CV19 panel had to back-peddle and say "protesting" in groups of thousands is OK - when just days before they were ticketing people in the park in Toronto for having fun.
Cheers.

Yeah, easy to say "don't fish...blah blah...' when you're a professional fisherman. They can do virtual seminars, product testing and endorsements etc. to still make money. The rest of us poor slob amateur fishermen need to do something to take our mind off of this pandemic. And, agreed, fishing is the perfect 'social distancing' sport. So, get off your high horses Angelo and the boys. I TOTALLY DISAGREE and will continue to fish as the law allows.
