    Default Mandatory Masks

Most of southern Ontario has or will soon have bylaws or public health orders making masks mandatory for shopping. Are you wearing one already? What's your reaction to making them mandatory?

We've had the order in place for over almost a month now in Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph and it's had a definite impact. Mask use went from 20 percent to almost 100 percent and there have only been one or two jerks who made a fuss. Making them mandatory is far better than calling upon people's "social responsibility."

What goods a mask without goggles? Your eyes are open more then your mouth lol. People in labs working with the virus wearing basically space suits for protection, like a mask of any sort is going to save you....lmao. Newsflash there may never be a cure or vaccine for covid-19 so how long is society going to live in fear and wear masks thinking hoping it's going to save us all. To little to late for action now, this virus is every where worldwide and China is to blame along with the WHO. Our own governments are also to blame, theydidnt take it serious back in December/January and joked about it, allowed international travellers to enter our country sick or not. Later tell us people were being screened from international flights, meanwhile no screening at all allowing all passengers to walk off their flights and on their merry way. Now their trying to tell us all we need to wear non-medical masks it will save us now. Best of luck....

Although I'm opposed to the idea of any mandatory garment, it's not much different than wearing a helmet on a motorcycle or a hardhat on a construction site. The only difference being that you can be denied necessities for not complying.

I'm not sure how identification for alcohol and tobacco sales is being done.

I think as long as they stick to public indoor spaces and don't get carried away enforcing it in low risk workplaces and in vehicles or other unreasonable circumstances I'll likely comply without a fuss. I did convey my opinion to my regional councilor who is responsible for deciding on our behalf. That's the best I can do.

C-man, we don't breathe through our eyes. Many on this site said that government was over reacting when this all started, now those same folks are saying we did not do enough in the beginning. We are learning as we go. Some day wearing masks while in all public places, indoors will be mandatory , and permanent.

So far,we'll only be required to wear a covering when shopping or being in a public place where social distancing is very difficult. For the amount of time it's necessary to wear one,it's really no biggie. This is nothing but a futile exercise in political correctness. That's OK,though,I'll play along with their silly games just to keep the PC crowd's stupid mouths slammed shut.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Well masks can and have been used to protect from bacteria for decades, they are NOT effective at protecting you or others from a virus.

Viruses are too small to be filtered out by face masks. A virus will pass thru a N95 or N100 medical grade face mask.
Since a medical grade mask can't stop a virus, how much protection do you think your really getting from that bandana?..

Do DR.s or epidemiologists say to wear masks to be politically correct? Absurd.

So what about alchohol, weed sales, licensing pictures, voting? How's that going to work? Take your mask of for identification, what purpose is a mask at all if you have to take it off....what a joke at best.

    Fisher..

Doctors, and front line medical staff are only doing what the administrative boards are telling them to do.

Those in over sight positions Normally have Degrees in management not medical related fields. They enact policy based on two objectives.
    1) Don't do stuff that makes the governments shut us down.

    2) Don't do stuff that will get our collective butts sued off.

At the peak of the pandemic "they" told us a mask provides little more than a false sense of security and may cause people to ignore distancing. I've watched this occur first hand in stores.

This opinion has stuck with me because I believe it to be the truth. I haven't seen any definitive evidence to prove otherwise. I feel like it's just a stab in the dark in a time where nobody really has a better solution.
