We will have to agree to disagree then.... She was in charge, made some wrong decisions that cost Canadian lives.....not the same as some rusted out cars....anyway, we all have an opinion and it's okay if yours is wrong (JK)

I'm just not convinced that it will make any difference. I wear a mask fairly regularly at work as PPE from some fairly serious stuff. How I see people using their masks in public makes me cringe. I understand that mandated masks are not PPE for the wearer, it's supposed to be for others. Still, there are basics that should be followed when it comes to using masks that aren't being followed. Although it looks funny, the people riding in their vehicles alone with a mask on are doing it right. They aren't unnecessary touching or removing their masks.

A quick observation from the grocery store the other day (I did not wear a mask) where the split was about 60/40 between those wearing and those not wearing masks. The people wearing masks were always the ones to compromise my 6 feet. For the most part though, people seem to respect your 6 feet if you aren't wearing a mask, funny that. I'll continue not to wear a mask until I have to because it seems to keep people away from me. When it's mandatory here I'll comply. I'll order online if I would rather not go to a store.

I think masks are more of a placebo than anything else. It gives people the sense that it's safer to go out, safer to go back to work, safer to shop because "there's another layer of protection" with masks. It gets the economy going again by implementing a measure that makes people feel better about going back to normal. We'll see in a few months whether masks made any difference. My bet is it won't. Don't go holding your breath waiting for a vaccine either. They weren't successful with one for either SARS or MERS. Both were also coronaviruses.

As said earlier in the thread. At this point it's all opinion.

Why would that matter? I see lots of people not wearing masks while its mandatory here, thats no concern of mine, their grown adults and can make their own decisions. As long as they keep their distance they are not a concern to me

Parading around, or as I put pointing the lack enforcement contained within the order, the order grants anyone with a condition immunity preventing anyone a no questions asked response. Secondly, the order permits people who want to lie (maybe to say#$%@ to the system), immunity from such agressions.

Everyday, as I ride the bus and train, go in stores, I get the stink eye, people run from me, move seats, grab children and move. Everyday, this is what I get from the general public. No one has been bold (actually polite) enough to challenge me or be verbally rude about it. Most of the kids who police doors about company policy have no clue about exemptions - and I ask them to go get the Manager who I then educate on exemptions.

I am not playing a game (however even without a valid reason - I would do the same). Social conditioning is occurring to condition people to comply with basic orders. Look how quickly it has taken hold.

Well I have worked everyday, during lockdown, my wife is a nurse running a covid free retirement home for 4 months (5 if include the month before lockdown, the corporation closed access to home, even before the Public facilities did), my son is cashier at Loblaws - we have worked every shift and my son has picked up more hours.

What did we do as smart people working with public everyday - we made our personal health was our responsibility. We didn't touch our faces when out, we stayed 6ft apart, washed our hands frequently. We were responsible to our risk..not yours.

The place I work is in direct contact with a homeless shelter, not a single case was reported at it, these are some the most dis-advantaged people who dont practice social distance, who dont wash hand frequently, who share needles, smokes and sleep on each other. At one of the worst places for potential infection - ZERO Cases

You see the shaming and name calling works both ways to name callers - I call them Karen and Kens - who stick their noses in other peoples business. I have often thought of a response to someone who rudely might ask: Maybe I should return the question with question of what color is your undergarments, are your pregnant, will you be pregnant soon, please provide me your PIN # of visa/MC, what address do you live at, you see it is a two way street to protecting (within the laws, as directed) your private information..and it would be exceptionally rude of me to respond like that and I won't. Instead, I will embarras them with order details and ask why they are requesting personal medical details about me - if they continue to be rude - then the other statements will come out. I expect as Ottawa rolls its mandatory rule on 16 Jul, 2020 it will still contain all the provisions in which the OPH order does for exemptions ODA and HRC will make the inclusion mandatory. I ordered a body cam which I will turn on to protect myself at that point.

The next question I ask, all mask wearers is when will be able to take of that mask..think about that!!! No one has told you, it is open ended to enforce conditioning of compliance...most likely until a vaccine is made...then you WILL take IT.

Badenoch - you are the person I worry about meeting on the street, as your lack of understanding is outstanding Ken.

Tell you what I won't question your need to wear a mask - and kindly do the same for me.

Reasonable question - NO is the answer I cannot, not because of my condition - because face shield is illegal under the order, the mask must cover nose, mouth and chin securely. So those you see at stores, or in stores with a bandana on, it is illegal under the order (Eastern Ontario). Both store employees and general public do it all the time. In the case of the store employees - the stores can face huge fines.

I don't believe for a minute you have a "medical condition" and simply use that as an excuse.

So based on your example I will fire up my printer today and print a handicapped car window plate. Screw the disabled who actually need a closer, bigger parking space. It's hot and I want to park closer to the door. All about me. All about ME!
