Fishing the creek with my grandson
I took my 5 year old grandson down to our creek for a little fishing after supper. He caught a bunch of good sized Chub, a few shiners and a small catfish using a cane pole. Lots of fun wading to the fishing spot in our swimming shoes.
Before supper he and his 1.5 years old sister spend about an hour catching small leopard frogs in our pond. This year we have almost 100 of them and some still have their tails.
A great afternoon and evening of fun.

Those kids will remember that all their life, I'm sure! I lost my father when I was 10 yrs. and grandfather shortly afterwards. I have a few memories that have stuck with me and always bring a smile inside.

Kid's catching frogs? Haven't heard of kids doing that in years, very cool. I love remembering when I use to go catching frogs and snakes and tadpoles and baby painted turtles. That will be something to remember when the kids get older, hope you took some videos or pics for yourself.

Good times and good memories is something the grandson will never forget. It's a good story to hear kids outside being kids.

Those are the adventures they will always remember. I remember a similar frog catching experience, and learning experience...I caught a snake, a frog and a toad, I brought them home in the inside pail of a minnow bucket. When I got home, all I had was a fat snake !!!

As a kid I remember creek fishing for chub.
Float was the line looped through a yellow cigarette lighter flint holder.
If we didn't have hooks a safety pin was used. (Nowhere as good as a hook)

I asked my daughter if she could share some photos from frog catching etc and she sent me a link to A google album with 300+ Photos and videos from their time with us this summer!
