Exactly. Sorry Snow walker, I think they do a great job on maintaining the Hullett Marsh.... mostly volunteers + the C.O.s . IF some neighbors are unhappy it is probably because they aren't hunters and hate hunting or want the marsh to themselves.
Get a membership folks, and you'll be totally up to date on everything going on there; it is the least we can do

Well if I did not live close to two hours away, and was home more then four or five days a month and could attend events or did go to Hullett more then once every couple years...

Also which of the memberships that I currently pay should I give up, so my wife can no longer have her social events, Tournaments, and range access?

Saying I have never seen much water in the greenwing pond or saying I have seen FOH members leaving corn piles outside of areas allowed by their permit is only stating a couple facts.

Being attack for stating facts does not make me want to rush out and hand over money..

    SnowWalker,

You do make some valid points, but so are the other forum members

We all understand times are tough and not anyone is ready or want to become a member, and there's nothing wrong with that
What everyone one else is saying is that being a member you'd have the chance to raise your concerns to the Managers, besides being informed on the HM activities

I for one, can send Scott (the Hullett Marsh Manager) your comments and make sure they get addressed or at least lodged, and maybe something will be done about it

As for the water levels for waterfowl in the specific pond, subjective as they are and being a member or not, those guys would be more than happy to answer any questions you would have. Send them an email at [email protected]

Members at HM are like neighbours. Some you like, some you don't....at the end of the day it is all about how we (the members and non members users of the HM) behave.

If surrounding land owners have an issue with us, they'll raise with on the proper forum, and we are allowed, willing and able to do the same. If someone is baiting intentionally to get you out of there, we can act....just bring it up to the GM of the HM

Be safe and shoot straight my fellow hunter!

Interesting thread, here are a few comments and facts:

The Greenwing Pool Dyke breach was repaired by Ducks Unlimited Canada in the winter and now holds water and new growth vegetation providing excellent wetland habitat. This fact has been observed by many people over this past summer.

FOH has been incorporated for over 20 years now managing the HPWA. Membership revenue goes directly towards signage, road maintenance, diesel fuel, line trimming, mowing, lumber, paint, hardware etc. Without our membership dollars working for the public (members and non-members) can you just imagine what the 20 public access parking lots would look like now. Probably a successional forest!

If you have observed Illegal baiting activities these should be reported to our 2 local conservation officers. They keep a close eye on Hullett Marsh and their direct phone line numbers are posted in our annual User Guide. Many people bait for deer at the Hullett PWA but please do bring to our attention any suspicious baiting activity and report to a CO.

Our relations with close neighbours, adjoining landowners, the local community and municipality has never been better. We receive many compliments for our efforts each year. When issues are brought to our attention we take action ASAP. We have spent considerable time and money on "Private Land" boundary signs to protect our adjoining landowners over the last 5 years. Our biggest problem is public users who do not take the effort to read and understand the regulations, study our boundary map or respect the private land that surrounds the HPWA.

Cry me a river....a pheasant challenge ticket costs $10. For a guy who only goes there once every couple years, you sure spend a lot of time talking to neighbors and having your hunts ruined. You say facts, I say BS.

Never said hunts. As for talking to neighbors, yup that kind of thing happens when your in the area. Just said I don't go to Hullett that often to hunt.
You seem to be too personally invested.

The issue of the corn dumped on the berm at the south east end of the the pond has been I am sure dealt with by now.

The neighbors said what they said. Hard feels over something that matters to them, is what I took it for.

FOH, I don't want to quote your complete message so please bear with me.

The corn being dumped was awhile ago, at the time the two individuals seemed surprised and embarrassed to learn it was illegal as far as the waterfowl goes.
I did a follow-up, and did receive an exceptional response.
As for reporting illegal activities, or behavior not permitted by the rules of Hullett, I do so .

I do agree some are not properly informed of the rules. There no blame on you for that.

As for the Neighbors, I hope you continue to enjoy good relationships. Some of the neighbors that made comments are not physically next to the Hullett Property. If that means anything.

The two person per pin does make it hard for a person to take out New or hunter with little experience. I therefore normally would use Zone B. But with low water levels, I stopped taking people to hullett.

Last Friday I scouted the greenwing pond and surrounding area on my way home. Yes a long day. Found water levels to be rising. I hope you will be allowing the pond level to be higher in years to come, but that is your Decision.

I did locate a pond that held a good number of geese, and did hunt it Saturday with three other people.

Well it was within Hullett, it is not a pond you actively manage. It also required me to drop gear and the others off and then park and walk about an hour to where we were setting up. When we did leave I had to do the whole in reverse. Walk to the parking lot, and then drive back to reload people and gear..

I liked the spot( pond ), and enjoyed the hunt.

I also hope you can keep your raccoon numbers down. They are hard on the birds, by birds I mean all the birds.
