I added to the wood pile. I was able to score a popup shelter but I still haven't found a canoe yet. Prices are crazy this year and they are selling within a couple of hours. I'm going to watch it very closely and hope I can get one in the next couple of days.
I saw a deer, a couple of goose hunters setting up for last night, a guy scouting with his dog right behind the camp, on the other side of the damn opening, a small game hunter (empty game bag...)
It was an awesome day to be in the woods and a good reminder that I really need to change my Honda Accord for a truck... I will be bringing a spade to do road repairs next weekend...

I hunted the ponds Sunday morning and went for grouse hunt after around the outer edge of peninsula. I was in the back and heard what I thought was deer charging through the bush towards me (I was hearing a beeping sound that sounded like a Bluejay, so it didn't register). Anyways, all of a sudden the thing in the bush starting charging and a grouse burst out of the bush heading to pond, I got off a quick shot and missed..not thinking of the thing crashing through woods at me...lol. When I turned my attention to crashing a GSP DOG with an electronic beeper (making bluejay sound), came out looking to rewarded...lol. It was then I heard the owner calling the dog back, who left. I stalked the area where he flushed but never seen him again.
Nice job at camp!!!

That goose was mine from Thur/Fri night (feathers plugged by dam) when I took the new member out, we scored 1 each from a flight of two. The only ones of the night. 20ft off the water directly overhead, easy shot. Mine took a full Crossman BB (home loads 101 BB's) 1 1/4 OZ in neck and leading edge of breast. Fell stone dead from sky.

Cool with the home made BB shells.
Don't think I will get out this coming weekend as my son and I hopefully will be putting up our tree stands, suppose to go tomorrow to put out bait and the cameras.

Got me a canoe. Tried it last night with my 8 year old. She floats and doesn't take in water
Found the ducks! They are all in the city of Ottawa. Not scared of people there at all. You could pretty much paddle up to them and smack'em with your oar. Couldn't figure out how to tie the canoe to the SUV so I'll have to try that again tonight. So unless somebody in my house tests positive for covid in the next 36 hrs looks like I'm a go for tomorrow night / Saturday morning duck hunt.

Buy tie down straps to tie your canoe much much easier. Get a pack of 4. Use one across the back , one across the front, one down the front if possible. If one down the front is not possible put 2 across the front.

My problem with the canoe tieing is I could only find one spot to tie to in the front of the car and it is towards the driver side corner. I couldn't find an equivalent tie point on the passenger side corner. This afternoon I will pop the hood and see if I could find two spots in there to tie to. If not, then I might consider seeing if I could add some sort of D-ring under the car if it isn't too difficult.

Does your car have a roof rack?

It does. With two cross bars. But I've always tied the nose of the canoe to the front corners of the vehicle. Do you think I can skip this?
