Savage 10ML ii and Boyd's stocks

Closing the deal on another 10MLii that unfortunately has the Tupperware stock.

The first upgrade will be to install a Boyd's thumb-hole featherweight stock.

Can any-one recommend a good gun-smith to fit the stock to the action in Southern Ontario?

I have read the majority of the time they need some tweaking for proper fit and don't want to attempt it myself...

Any info would be appreciated.

Just make sure you order the right stock, ie. some are 4.25 " spacing the new ones are 4.4 "
no need for ramrod slot if you carry a takedown ramrod.
By the way fitting the action and bedding is quite easy to do there's lots of info on youtube.

Thanks for the reminder to carefully measure the action screw spacing. My stainless is a 2007 model and measures 4.27" exactly. I used calipers. :0)

I don't want to have to take a huge hit by sending it back... lol

Order is in and I was glad to see they still ship to Ontario at a reasonable cost...

My boyds stock arrived on Sep 25th. Order placed on Sep 07th. Thats not too shabby...

Perfect �� fit!!!

Only issue I had was when tightening the action screws i made the mistake of tightening them both alternating one to the other. When I went to cycle the primer bolt it wouldn't move. DOH!!! The rear action screw was interfering with the bolt.

Removed the stock again and looked at my savage owners manual.
It said to tighten the front action screw first to 25inch pounds. Then tighten the rear screw to 25inch pounds.
When I followed the proper sequence it cycles flawlessly now. Morale of the story is to check your owners manual when you have troubles... lol

Congratulations on your upgrade. I mounted the savage ml2 on the Boyds Prairie Hunter, Pepper Laminate a few years back. Very happy with it. It was a perfect fit as well. Have fun.

Sometimes the actions screws will be too long in the new stock and need to be modified. You may be able to place an escutcheon under the screw head to lower it from sitting too far into the action.
