Hey all,
I figured to get our annual woodcock report thread going. Hunted 3 hrs today just north of Barrie and put up 7-8 woodcock, 4 in the bag.

The new pup is doing great, she was playing in the yard with the woodcock I got today, looking forward to hunting her next season, GSP and Brittany will be a lethal team on woodcock!

Was out in the French river area last Saturday and bumped 3 woodcock. Bush was kind of dry in the spots I usually get them. Couldn’t connect with the amount of cover. Even with the few frosts, I don’t think the migration is in full swing yet, maybe a week or 2.

Zero for us in both Hullett and Conestoga. Hoping for some in the upcoming weeks.

I was out near Stratford today and managed to locate one for the pup. Collected a bonus grouse too! Both were firsts for the young one. I agree they aren't down here yet.

Nice hunt Lorenzo and Dilly looks like the pup is coming along nicely. I think with this cooler weather the woodcock migration should start soon. I am thinking next week we should start seeing more birds start showing up.

Yeah they are still resident birds for the most part. I find they really start moving right after the thanksgiving weekend, with some pretty good days right up to the first week of November.

0 for 2 at hullet today. i need a wingman lol! dogs did great. They ran hard for 3 hours which surprised me since I have done very little conditioning this summer.
