Covid 2nd Wave....fact or fiction

its pretty clear we are testing waayyy more people and getting "only" 500-700 positive cases, which as many have stated above is a very low percentage (around the 1% mark)
I will bring up something very sad that has to do with the fallout from covid shutdowns and continued isolation.... over the last 6 months I have known either personally, or through my wifes social circle 3-4 people who have committed suicide.. to me this is very sad, and I would venture to guess the unintended consequences of these covid measures we are seeing a massive increase in suicides and mental health issues..the government will keep these numbers from getting out, but just think to yourself how many people do you know that died from covid this year vs the amount of people that took their own life and it is a very scary thought. I am not trying to point blame or stir the pot, however I think the mental health effects of covid have been far more devastating than we realize, and the worst part is I do not see things changing for the next 2 or even 3 years with respect to masks, isolation, grandparents not seeing grandkids, neighbours not socializing, etc. Many of the social and family aspects of our lives we look forward to have been supressed and we are feeling its effects..so much for "were all in this together" and stay home for 2 weeks to "flatten the curve"...

You are not wrong and I don't think the worst of it has arrived. Next year might be worse especially when the government stops it's funding and many have nothing left . By the end of next year there will be a big crash for many even without more restrictions. More closed business this fall will just be devastatingbnext year .

I personally don't know anyone but the long term care home near us had just under or over 40 deaths out of it 120 patients. The place in Sutton had a horrible time .

As of this morning,Ontario had 8348 active cases..........out of a population of almost 15 million. In the grand scheme of things,does the bottom line really justify shutting the province down,again,and driving the final nail in the provincial economy which will likely be years if not decades recovering? Somehow,I don't think so.

I think by the end of next week we will see some closures in the city . We should be seeing the thousand cases a day very soon. The health officials say it will be mid October when we see these numbers. Will not be surprised if we see the thousand mark in the next 3 days.

People don't follow guidelines even our own prime minister [emoji6] it's just a recommendation right [emoji849].

The cases are trickling north climbing a few each day. Last weekend when the thousands of vehicle's heading north I said look at all the covid heading north from Toronto lol. . Today is the same a mile long string of traffic to get out our driveway lol.

in the spring we had 700 positives from 6,000 tests, now were testing what is it 30k ppl to get 700 positives...I dont get the hysteria, I feel this is something we need to live with and manage and be as safe as possible while carrying on our lives, not shutting down the economy..we need to carry on and face this adversity and be as safe and strong as possible.

Countries that are well governed have taken that approach...with promising results. But there again their leaders don't wear silly socks and go black face to parties.

I'll go out on a limb and say the 2nd wave is fact, based on how this type of virus infects. The degree of the severity is where the fiction applies.

Public Health data proves the infection rate is stable at 1.4 % of the population and has been since Jun. All that has happened is they went from testing 10,00 people a day to testing 50,000 a day. So naturally they have found more people who are positive.....but the infection rate has stayed the same...1.4 %.

The data proves out there NO 2nd wave only the media is saying there is.
