    How does CO accumulate on an open deck? That can't happen. Some things aren't right with the story or the reporter has hopelessly screwed up.
    If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

    It would all depend on the type of boat, and exhaust systems on the boat. At low speeds, exhaust gets sucked back Over the stern. Someone sitting in the stern seats, for extended periods of time, while the boat is at the right speed to allow exhaust to get sucked forward would be at risk..something similar to exhaust from a pickup getting sucked back into the box.
