    Default Spypoint Link-Dark

I want to share my experience with Spypoint products and customer service over the past 5 years. Spypoint has replaced 7 Link-Dark cameras in the past 12 months. There was a string of defective cameras Spypoint manufactured. The Spypoint 'technician' are not well versed on their product and how to provide good advise to set-up the camera. I noticed every 2-3 years my Link-Dark has a problem and I contact Spypoint for a replacement. Currently, the camera is showing a Modem Error meaning the cell transmission if defective and requires replacement. The replacement had a problem with the main screen, two horizontal black lines. During the hunting season, you can expect to wait 60 minutes before someone answers your call. The Chat Line is better however the 'technician' aren't well trained to advise on the product. Caveat Emptor .
As I see it, if you know your property has deer on it, you don't need the fancy cell camera option, don't make the mistake I did. If you're laying out food, you will probably replenish once a month at which time you can exchange the SD card. If you want the opportunity to get instant notifications from the cell camera, great, but be prepared to incur some headaches with the camera not working and spending lots of time on the phone with Spypoint.

Spypoint sure has a lot of problems with their products and even more with their service. I have two link-s cameras - they are both working now.
I do like the daily updates as I'll plan a bit around what I see going on - particularly during the rut when strange bucks are cruising through.
Mine have cell and solar - so I can drop them in mid september and pick them up end of december and not miss anything.
But they are expensive toys - and if you are not pretty computer literate, they are not for you.

I like the cell link adapters. You can pair them with your existing cameras and they don’t cost a ton of money.

I have two older Spypoint cameras, an IR-6 & BP-8. Few years ago a bear got ahold of the IR-6, didn't do much damage but poked a hole in one of the fresnel lenses. Customer service was a nightmare, eventually was going to purchase the replacement lens but for some reason they could not process my credit card. Lens never got replaced, still has the hole it, doesn't affect how it works.

Starting to notice the cameras not always working all the time, will say there is no pictures when there is, says the batteries are dead when they're not, doesn't take a picture when it should (I walked right in front of it) I would guess the cameras have to be around 10 years old. Not sure if they have a shelf life at all. This was the first winter I left them out all year long.

Was considering a Spypoint cell Link or cell camera, I have heard tons of bad stuff about their cell cameras, and even worse their customer service trying to get them working. I would pay a bit more and go with another brand, one that will be reliable right out of the box.

I have 1 cell link camera and 2 link adapters. No big complaints with either. I had to turn the sensitivity down on the camera as it would trigger needlessly. Works fine since.

I have 2 sp micro's about a year now. I have had no issues they were out for just over 2 months last deer season, out again for turkey season, and been out since early september. Battery life is good, still show 100% as long as you use lithium batteries. I didn't have any for the first camera so put regular batteries in it. You could almost see the gauge go down. I'd buy another if I needed a 3rd.

Ive found that just moving mine enough to stop the tree from blocking the signal can make a big difference. Or just another tree, depending on where your local cell tower is.
I haven't tried it, but some have used the cheap antenna's you can get off of amazon for a decent boost.
