Pup's first hunting season
I have a new wirehair pup (8 months now) who I have been hunting quite a bit this fall. I am trying to get him as many exposures as possible while also focusing on field obedience and good manners around other hunters and their dogs. All seems to be going well so far with the biggest challenge being, me letting birds he doesn't handle correctly, just fly away. It seems to be paying off as he now has pointed and held on 3 pheasants. The last hen required two releases and relocates before he pinned her for me to flush. Pretty happy with him so far.

The rooster was in tough cover and the veteran was responsible for bringing it to the gun. It looks like he blew a raspberry at the pup as I took this picture.
Good luck to all out there hunting this fall.

Has too much time on their hands
The satisfaction of seeing them develop along with you. One of the many reasons we have gun dogs.
