Banded Bird Age?
I just recently shot a banded goose and when I got the info on the bird I found out it was 7 years old. This has peeked my interest and was wondering what's the oldest banded bird you have harvested?

My oldest is 5 years old banded about 150km away from where shot. My buddy I hunt with got one from Nunavut banded 9 years ago.
I remember reading of 21-23 year old banded birds in OOD magazine few years ago

Has too much time on their hands
I shot a goose a few years ago that was banded 16 years before as an adult. So who knows how old the bird was!

19yr old james bay bird, banded as an adult. Band was really thin and barely readable. Makes me think many this age wear out and become unattached from the bird.

This is exactly why there's so many double banded birds out there right now -- have shot 5 or 6 in the last year. They're doing a band retention study, one band is the traditional aluminum and the other is stainless.
