A few weeks ago the chief said he had a solution that he felt was good for both sides, he said they should reduce the number of traps that the commercial people can use and increase the bands. Not sure if it was suppose to be funny, but I don't think the other side thought it was funny.
Also could be serious since the Mohawks from Quebec/Ontario are down there with rifles. If there is bloodshed it will be the FN and Government who caused it.
If you were correct here how do you account for the complete collapse of the cod fishing industry?
Do you have evidence the Mohawks are down there with their rifles?

Not talking cod
But I bet I can pin point a lake that the indigenous killed the walleye fishing. The only ones that pay for their actions are the non indigenous. [emoji107]
But yea let them keep taking what ever they want .

Well perhaps we should be talking cod after all GW stated the people know the sea better than the government and my point is that both the people who knew the sea and the government who were supposed to monitor the cod stocks both managed to collapse the fishery.

None that I can personally show you, just the word of my cousin who lobster fishes out of wedgeport and is also the number one lobster boat builder in Nova Scotia.
But I will go on what he say's when he told me of the Police I knew 2 day's before the news and government even reported it.
So yes I would say he's accurate. Hi sister my other cousin is married to a Native and lives on the reserve near Yarmouth and also saw the the Mohawks (most likely since Quebec and Ontario Plates). So yeah I think my knowledge is quite accurate. I know a little more then what's happening since my family is there.

Most of this is taking place out of Pubnico, another cousin (direct relation) her husband fishes in that area, actually I think I have to cousins fishing there, but I don't talk to them much anymore. My parents are from Yarmouth and many from my family still live in NS and half are involved in fishing, so I hear things pretty quickly and probably faster then the news does.

The Conservatives were making FN accountable for their spending. I believe the Liberals put an end to it. With no accountability on spending how can any problems be solved with the FN, please enlighten us?
Accountability with spending seems to be problem with the Liberals and the WE charity...LOL

The problem with governments of all stripes is that they are trying to keep everybody happy. In the end they are not keeping anybody happy.
Herb Dhaliwal the Liberal Minister in charge of Fisheries stated this morning that back in the 1990,s the government gave the aboriginals groups some $500 MILLION to buy equipment and boats to allow them entry into the commercial lobster fishing.
They negotiated this with some 35 different aboriginal bands.
They then gave them 10% of the licenses even although they only represent 2 1/2% of the population.
He stated everybody seemed to be happy with the situation ( I am pretty sure if I was a non aboriginal I would not be).In any event they had peace for the past 20 or so years.
This situation TODAY started with ONE BAND going out before SEASON and catching lobsters.
In other words they PURPOSELY, blew the whole agreement apart.
The Supreme Court the Highest Court in the land did not define "a modest living" in my mind totally unacceptable.
I am sure the other 34 aboriginal band's who did not start this affair and not very happy with the one band that did.
In my opinion this ONE BAND should be signaled out and taken to task for fishing out of season.Their license should be revoked.
Then we have the banked licenses problem
