I was in the truck as a passenger, we were scouting for our moose hunt in 15b, and shooting some grouse.
As we rounded a bend there was a bear on the road ,small bear maybe 150 lb He moved over into the woods about 15 yards and sat there looking at us.
The driver pulled out his 22 stuck it out the window and shot the bear in the rump.
I said why did you do that he said it won't kill him, just gives him a sore a ss.
I am contemplating on calling the MNR but not sure what they could do , my word against his.
    What would you do?

call, thats BS, #1 shooting out the window and #2 shooting the bear just to shoot it?

not even trying to harvest it?

idk that seems uncalled for in my opinion.

Injuring any animal knowing it could be a long slow painful death....is not what a real hunter does. That could have cracked bone, lead to infection etc...im 245 lb, 95 lb heavier....and would immediate treatment of i were shot with a 22. Not sure if there's much of a decision to make......
    This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......

I'd beat the s&#t out of him. Take his 22 and bust it over his truck. I have absolutely zero tolerance for purposeful cruelty.

    WTF?

That is just plain ignorant and despicable. Said hunter would be persona non grata after that. If there is a reasonable chance at conviction call it in.

also its prob a good thing to call sooner than later as they're prob still officers around that area because of the moose hunt, they dont have as much staff right now so im sure some of them are going to be moving down south for the controlled hunts. as for what they will do they will go look around the are and prob pay your buddy a visit. me and my dad were looking at properties in the summer last year i think it was and we came across 2 deer skinned and a little meat taken thrown off to the side covered in a garbage bag. we called them when we were there, and by the time we were back home ( and hour) my dad got a call back saying that the oficer is there and he filled him in on the phone where the bag was etc. again just my 2 cents but hearing that story as a member said above thats not what real hunters do and thats one fo the reasons the COs are there for.
