Yeah I haven't seen my parents in 2 years and haven't visited in 5 years. Last year we flew my youngest down to visit.
If things clear up by Easter I might go down to see them, will depend on if my contract is renewed at Xmas.

Just heard from the old man minutes ago. So I told him their to old to be going out.
Also had to check with him if he thought I could claim my new heating system on my taxes, which is why I was trying to call him.
I work as a sole proprietorship and he said I can. I trust him knowing this information since he is the top qualified person in NB to audit
the real estate companies.

Anyways he said I can.

Not sure what I will do when they are gone some day. I still call them for everything since I don't bother writing stuff down. Still call mom when I want to cook one of her recipes and still call my dad for retirement information. We were brought up to be close to family and are still expected to call at minimum every couple of weeks if us kids don't call they call us.

I even let them know when I'm going up North in case they need to get a hold of me, we have always been very close family. I hear from my siblings by text or phone every month. When my grandmother was still alive I spoke to her once a week to see how she was doing.

Was up to my uncles place (75 years young) and he and his brother (my father 69yy) on the long weekend of September, put me and my brothers (early 40s) in bed in the late wee hours of the morning and still had "one more" after we went to bed. I am not sure where they go the energy for that!

My dad's 75. And still refuses help with pretty much anything. Stays active on the homestead, to say the least...

My Mom is BTW 95,and she still takes care of herself,the house ,and goes to the corner store and church(weather permitting).

Right on! My dad was 88 and mom was 90 living in an old farm house in Dunvegan, Cape Breton a few years ago. They're gone now though. They lived to the fullest without any intervention by the kids, and they enjoyed life with their chickens, ducks and trout pond. If we had pulled them out of there 10 years ago, and put them in "a home", they would have died unhappy.
