JUDGE. Don't know what your relationship is with this individual or you with the group.
I would report, don't care who the person is, but that's me.
Why, if you were looking for moose would he be driving around with a loaded .22 anyways?
Sounds to me like a lot of rules were broken.
Individuals like this are bad for Hunting PERIOD. And we ethical ones need to protect ourselves from giving the anti's any ammunition against us.
The least I would do is tell him to pack up his and kick him out of your group.
If he had of killed the bear would you have kept the meat? or just let it lie?
Some find bears to be a nuisance, But in the bush minding its own business trying to survive, that disgusts me.
I have reported a number of people., poaching, trespassing, I guess thats why I will only hunt with my son now, too many individuals will go to all extremes to kill an animal.
    My opinion.
Sorry you had to experience that.

Laying charges under provincial offense regs is problematic at the best of times. 80% of charges laid are commonly known as "found committing" where a CO literally walks up on an offender and catches them in the act. Most are relatively minor offenses, although, some can carry heavy fines and equipment seizures (ie: poaching,no license,or out of season etc) that in no way can be considered minor. This case is prosecutable under The Criminal Code for cruelty, just for starters. I can't imagine a Crown not prosecuting IF (and that's a big IF) there's physical evidence (a dead bear),forensic evidence (a shell casing AND the rifle to match) AND eye-witness testimony. Absent any of those items, the chances of a Crown prosecuting with the likely probability of a conviction is slim to none. Crimestoppers is valuable information even if there isn't enough evidence to lay charges because it gives local CO's a big "heads up",especially, when given violators names, addresses and vehicle types and locations and circumstances that may be able to be developed at a later date.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Would have lost it if one of my buddies pulled that... But I don't think any ever would. Certainly wouldn't be hunting with them ever again.

Not every one is so open to rat out what they thought could of been a friend.

Shame on you for saying he is contributing a bad name fir hunters.

It's not as easy as some might think it is.

I said why did you do that he said it won't kill him, just gives him a sore a ss.
I am contemplating on calling the MNR but not sure what they could do , my word against his.
    What would you do?
If you do nothing, you're just as complicit as the jerk who did it. It's about standing up for what's right, and standing up to a bully, frankly. Even if nothing comes of it, you'll know you did the right thing.

I've seen people get the beats real bad for it lol.
Rat out the wrong person and your life and family could be ruined for life . They don't spend millions of dollars a year to protect a person and their families for nothing lol.

I would say that "Judge" could now take your post to law enforcement and file a complaint.. Based on your own words you have just suggested that he can expect any and everything from beatings, to financial problems and even death.

    Oh and "LOL"...
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

Like gw11 said if he doesn't do anything now he will be a be part of the problem and labeled as a poacher as well.

I'm sure it's being looked into by now.

This was the first step into the problem he is speaking out about the problem. Like I said some are more hesitant than others to speak out so fast. It could of been a good friend ,a family member a co worker who knows. I do know for many it would be a hard situation to face.

Like said it could cause judge many more problems for doing the right thing. He is the one that will deal with the brunt of this clowns if he chooses to react back.
