I didn't say no one in the area isn't following the 'rules' of social distancing and wearing masks when required. That doesn't stop the local guys for loosely gathering in small groups in parking lots to chat without masks or for guys working outside from not wearing masks. Since the risk is low here , there is no need to shut down these activities while observing cautions.

I hate being sick, I do what I can (get flu shot) to avoid the annual H1N1 flu that kills many of the same people that Covid also kills. Yet annually less than 40% of the population get that vaccine. The H1N1 kills about 1,800 people every year in Ontario. Covid has killed 3,000. This 'pandemic'', in the bigger picture. isn't killing off that many more people. So why the hysteria over Covid...because the media/politicians have blown the threat way out of proportion. This is why the stats are important..they don't lie. In most areas , less than 1% of the population is being affected by Covid and most of them are immunocompromised seniors in LTC facilities.

Why have they shut down the economy, why are people losing everything, why is the country going into such deep debt ?

I agree ..if your sick stay home...if your kids are sick keep them home, if you know someone is sick don't go near them. If you go into public places, wear a mask, wash your hands when you go in and wash your hands when you leave.

But ask yourself...why are restaurants that are doing everything the have been asked to do, being closed when there is no data to support that they are places where the virus is being spread ? Why are they locking down businesses that are doing their part. ?

Taxpayers are paying the rent for businesses now so they won't close and add to the EI rolls that are also paid for by the taxpayer....where will this end..where is all that money going to come from?

We are, as a society, going to have to learn how to live with this virus. It's not going away. It ridiculous to think that having a vaccine will solve the problem when we have less than 40% of the population voluntarily getting a vaccine for a flu that kills people now.

As much as it's feared, people will have to get sick and then get better...the human body will create the anti bodies. Trying to prevent every Canadian from getting sick is a really a naively stupid idea. We need to combat this with 'herd immunity' .

Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease, making the spread of disease from person to person unlikely. As a result, the whole community becomes protected — not just those who are immune.

Often, a percentage of the population must be capable of getting a disease in order for it to spread. This is called a threshold proportion. If the proportion of the population that is immune to the disease is greater than this threshold, the spread of the disease will decline. This is known as the herd immunity threshold.

What percentage of a community needs to be immune in order to achieve herd immunity? It varies from disease to disease. The more contagious a disease is, the greater the proportion of the population that needs to be immune to the disease to stop its spread. For example, the measles is a highly contagious illness. It's estimated that 94% of the population must be immune to interrupt the chain of transmission.

Even with a vaccine it will take a few years to even become effective. A vaccine will only do so much it doesn't work instantly. There are many people that will not get it including myself. Prove to me is effective and safe first yeah that will take a few years.

People will eventually turn against the shut downs we are already seeing this. The media is only making it worse and people will Rebell against it and eventually stop listening to what they say. It's just our nature in us . When you have nothing left to loose then what? No one will care riots will start and more buildings will burn.

I am another that will only wear a mask when I have too. I do not wear it at work. Even inside the building as by law I do not need to. I work outside we have a warehouse that is large enough to space out. Besides there is only max 5 people in this building in a busy day this season. Our business is closed to the public appointment only . The office manager and owners will wear a mask when the public is in the building during their appointment.

Why would I wear a mask into a building that is closed to the public ? I am the one that unlocks the door and I lock the door behind me I have worked with one other person all season we have plenty of room in side to social distancing. I am only inside briefly to get my paperwork for the day. Maybe a few minutes to get a couple things from inside. The majority of the work is done outside of the building.

Do I really need to wear a mask? Besides the mask I wear does little to prevent me from getting sick. I am not going to purchase medical grade mask at my disposal . Won't happen I have about 6 cloth face covers.

I don't even wash it daily weekly only [emoji28]

I would hazard a guess that many of the people hunting are within the high risk senior ages. I’m 63 and in very good health But others are not so lucky.
If we just look at numbers in one particular way......Then the US is ahead of Canada with only a 2.6% death rate..... Stats, you got to love......

No extra precautions at our camp. If someone has it, we're all getting it. Just 6 of us who are in fairly close contact anyway (family and co-workers). If someone feels sick before next week, they don't come. If someone starts to feel sick in camp, they go home.

As long as people are still piling into TTC buses and going to bars, restaurants and gyms, I sure won't be giving up my week in deer camp.

Sorry, you're going to have a hard time convincing me that a half dozen guys in a deer camp are spreading the virus any more than it's being spread in workplaces or malls or anywhere else.

People seem to be forgetting that at the beginning of all this we were told that 70% of the world will be infected with this virus eventually. It isn't going away.

I might have missed it, but was anyone here trying to convince you of that?

General tone of the thread? Maybe you didn't read it...

Seems to be two trains of thought here, one group thinks deer camps are part of the problem while the other doesn't really see it as a problem.

We've had few announcements from local rural politicians advising against hunt camps and advising for "day trips only". Getting a bit tired of listening to it actually.

A Hunter with any forethought should have gone out 2 weeks ago and kissed a Covid patient. Got sick, quarantined for 14 days and then come out of it in time to head to camp.

They should get lapel pins made up: "I Survived Covid" so you can see who is not affected ..that's the guy you hang with at camp. HaHa..
