Covid 2nd Wave....fact or fiction

I was actually told by Virgin (Bell) that I had to get a new phone, because my old flip phone didn't have a SIM card...So I bought a newer flip phone, the only one on they sold and demanded that they 'grandfather' my old plan to the new phone. They did and so I still have a flip phone (with SIM) and pay only $10/mth. The only problem is I can't use an app to order my coffee at Tim's with my phone and actually have to do that it in person. HaHa..

If you have the SIM you can put it into any phone but just not use data. You can get around that by using WIFI, I have alot of my apps set only use the WIFI. I've known people that have a fairly new phone but no data just so they can use some apps over WIFI or Seek thermal cameras or endoscope cameras. I have to upgrade and use data for work but I repurposed my old camera (with NO SIM) to ONLY use WIFI and to use a Seek thermal camera (new phones have different plugs, watch for specials or kijiji etc) and the endoscope camera (cheap off ebay) and take pictures when I am doing repairs etc.

Back on topic.
The amount of fiction and misrepresentation of the data, this WUHAN PNEUMONIA is a bad one compared to the flu ... but I cringe at how easily a much more serious virus would pretty much cripple the modern world. I honestly think that the deaths due to other cancers etc and undiagnosed issues, suicides, coronary issues due to lack of exercise and so on IF they are ever calculated will be much higher than the COVID and the economic disaster created by our gov't a very long running problem. IF they hadn't given away the PPE to China and had actually put in some proper screening at airports etc. and something as simple as required masks and asking those that can to work from home to do so and the gov't not lied all the time and just got on with life it would be a much different story!

note: There are 1,200 beds in Ottawa serving a community of 1.2 million people.

Facts: Covid admissions to the Hospital , according to the Public Health Database (dated yesterday), is 43 with 4 in the ICU... down from the high of 55 on the 17 Oct.

Cameron Love, president and chief executive of The Ottawa Hospital, said the hospital would normally have between 150 and 180 so-called ALC (alternate level of care) patients. In the past few weeks, it has had up to 250 ALC patients.

Not according to Public Health..the highest increase in patients was 55 two weeks ago and has been dropping since....during the 2nd wave ..go figure.

Also realizing that Hospitals in Ottawa routinely run at 80%-100% capacity, at this time of the year, that's the norm...without Covid. So if 1,200 beds are running at near 100% capacity before you add 43 Covid patients ...the source of the Crisis isn't Covid...it's a reflection of much bigger issues with our Healthcare system.

Public health officials have been warning that the second wave could be worse than the first, with the potential of more than 2,000 cases a day in Ontario by the end of this month. On Friday, Ottawa Medical Officer of Health Dr. Vera Etches told CBC radio that Ottawa’s health system is in crisis.

Crisis ???? ..in the middle of the 2nd wave , in a Pandemic and only 43 patients are hospitalized. The facts I have been digging up don't support this so called 2nd wave.

I think the Hysteria has reached new 'record' heights though. a Crisis with 43 patients ??

Case counts are still acceptable in the community as few case requiring hospitalization. Remember, all this effort was to 'flatten the curve' we did that months ago.

And on the plus side....the increase of people getting the virus means were are slowly building up a 'herd Immunity' within our society. And as this point, it' is our best defence to fight the Covid virus.

Perfect case in OC today over a 1000 new cases in the Province of Ontario and 80 in Ottawa.

1000 new cases - means 999 (99.86%) will recover completely with ZERO medical intervention. out a population of 14,000,000

80 new cases in Ottawa means 87 will recover - out a population of 1,000,000

Why are we destroying an economy for a cold no worse then seasonal flu...

Its also important to note that when they say "cases" does not necessarily mean positive covid cases, it could be under investigation or further testing is needed. So numbers are being inflated to play into the narrative.

It actually seems both could be true, considering doctors are now reporting seeing a lot more later stage cancers and other illnesses than normal due to lack of diagnosis during the lockdown, and a bunch of those patients are ending up in ICU when they could have been treated as outpatients or in regular beds if diagnosed earlier.... so it’s entirely possible, even likely, that increases in ICU patients now are as much a result of the lockdown as they are of COVID

Perspective: with a population of 37 million in Canada...10,000 deaths represents .03 % of the population.

Last year ( July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020); there were 300,314 deaths reported in Canada..or .8% of the population.

Not to diminish the fact that the virus has attributed to an increase of deaths in the country, the death rate is NOT having a huge overall affect over to normal death rate. Especially when the majority of 'Covid' deaths are primarily ( as high as 96%) in older people with already compromised immune systems or in Long Term Care facilities waiting to die. .

Why is there so much hysteria and fear mongering over these numbers ?

very good breakdown of the #'s Mike...I dont get the hysteria and I've said it before that the long term damage from people avoiding hospitals (cancer screening ,etc) mental health, and the damaging of peoples livelihoods and businesses will be very very detrimental to this country and far outweighs "covid"

Maybe Im just crazy though, real estate prices are sky high, houses are selling, and we have a prime minister that goes on TV everyday and tells us what a good job he is doing!
