Science cannot explain everything.
There's many things happening around the world they have no explanation for. Those kinds of things are the unknown, proof is what each individual believes.

Things happen in your life that are hard to explain away and I will give you an example, when I came down with a very rare cancer and was misdiagnosed twice by two prominent hospitals, had radiation and radical surgery, they decided I needed chemotherapy in case they did not get all the cells.
My first chemo infusion was given to me at the Princess Margaret Hospital by a nurse who had an English accent. I started to talk to her and she told me she was trained in Britain but had also gone to Perth, Australia to train on a cancer ward.
I told her my sister Eileen was a veteran cancer nurse in a Perth hospital, after I told her my sisters name, she turned to me and stated Eileen was the one who trained her there. My sister confirmed that the same evening when I was talking to her.
So you will probably put this down to a high odd's coincidence but for me it was a sign from God he was going to look after me and my wife and three then yonge children. The Princess Margaret have had only 11 cases of my particular type of cancer and only 3 of us survived.

No . Proof is NOT what an individual 'believes'. That is faith, not proof. Can any religious person refute what Ricky G. states? Could any religious person answer the questions put by Fry?

Gil. If you believe god saved you from cancer, then you must acknowledge that it gave you that cancer. What about those god gave cancer to , that did not survive, are you implying they died, because they did not believe? Whether you live or die, does not depend on your belief's. You either believe , 'everything is part of gods plan', even while you or your child is dying ,or you don't.

Alot of it comes down to will.
Some are willing to fight others will give up and well when you give, your time will come. Lots of it again is by chance everyone has the ability to create cancer cells. It's just another reminder that we are all human.
God didn't give it to anyone it was just coincidence and the fact that it can happen to all of us.

So don't say prayer and God cured you....can't have it both ways. Stephen Fry is very much right.

Yup if he cured you , he gave it to you. And those he does not cure? Nothing is a coincidence. Everything is gods will. He has a plan for you. To bad that plan includes cancer, that you may or may not survive, depending on his largesse. As a member of a palliative care team for 3 decades, I can tell you I heard a lot of questions asked at the hundreds of deaths I was in attendance for. But not one answer was forthcoming.

I would never say that tho .
Others maybe but that is ok because that is what "THEY" believe in. We should not judge anyone for there beliefs we just need to accept that everyone is different.
You need to fight to win the battle not every battle can be won even with a hard fight.
Maybe for some the beliefs of God made them stronger to fight the battle they still choose to fight just trying to go through another source. Since they prayed to God they fought the battle they now say god saved them . That's what they believe in that's what got them through. Not all can win the war .

I have no problem with others beliefs,(that's their problem), as long as their belief does affect the lives of non believers, in any way. If it does, they have crossed a line they shouldn't have.

Thats a pretty amazing thing that happened Gilly, and I've had a few things happen in life that were too coincidental in my mind. I tend to lean on God when I lose a close friend or family member, and even if its just a coping tool, so be it. I'm not going to tell someone they're right or wrong in beliefs...to each they're own in my books.
PS...I dont usually see your point of view....but I'm very glad it has worked out for you...and your still around
.
This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......
