It is almost inevitable the way we are going.
I'm going to say decade because we will be in this awhile still. I think I heard things will start to get better by 2028 [emoji23][emoji1787]
That's a big if we have only seen a third of the businesses lost . There is a pile more to come, they are still falling while we are to fall into another shutdown.

Yep Toronto is going to be another Chicago or Detroit after another few shutdowns. The restaurants will not survive much more of having their hands tide behind their backs. Tory will further raise taxes and businesses will be leaving the city all together.

Thank God we had Chrystia Freeland our prime Minister in waiting to negotiate a decent deal.
Do you feel the same towards China and the free trade is fair?
Not sure of the exact numbers but they pay little to nothing because of old laws and regulations . Just like our Aboriginal laws here . No change in the last 50 years and as we go into the future with more and better we are still using treatys that are far out dated.
China rates are from when they were small . Now they on top of the world and only paying out what a third world country would.

Oh I was reading an article yesterday from a family member of Trump.
She said it's all about turning the Trump supporters into thinking he won. Just basically hyping them up for a riot or war.
I can see this happening it's already happening.
Is it all just a plot to turn the people onto each other?

People are complaining about the direction the province and the city of TO, are taking with the uptick in covid infections. Well what do you think they should do? Full lockdown, open up everything , or something in the middle? Like they are doing. Business need to develop a new plan. If you had a restaurant downtown that seats 100 people and you are now, and for the foreseeable future, able to only seat 25, you now need a new viable business plan. If you must have 100 dinners to be viable you may need to reevaluate your business and career choices. Those workers in the big towers downtown that fill the restaurant at lunch, and for after work drinks, may never be back. As people and corporations now realize that way more people can work from from home, than previously thought, there may never be a need again , for a 100 seat restaurant, geared to the downtown workers who may never return.

Then what happens to all those big empty buildings? So they move out of the city to find a smaller cheaper location?
I think there was talk a few years back about all the big businesses in Toronto . Said they would never leave the city I think the subjects was towards poverty in Toronto.
Now what's going to happen with Toronto?
All those big office buildings that are nearly empty. Shootings , crime , drugs ,and poverty is still a thing and now the work is leaving. Big empty buildings will only sit so long why pay the rent on an empty building
As to your question
I think they had 8 months to figure out a plan for the second wave . More into protecting the citizens with covid centers to get the treatment they need. The more we put into it the more lives will be saved. They already knew the hospital's capacity has been running above it capacity for many years. Nothing was done to prevent the hospital's from an overload of covid 19 patients. Not even so much as temporary shelters put in place to better understand the situation. The more a unit works on it the better the outcome of the people like saving more lives . Having dedicated covid 19 centers would help free up the over crowded health care system and save more lives.
A center that would only deal with covid 19 patients would free up space or valuable beds in the hospital yet still get the treatment and care needed to fight this disease. The more one unit works on these patients the less death we would see in the future.
Right now it's just a mess with no real plan other than to shut down . I think if our government planned for a second wave we would be able to handle more Cases . Again with a place just for these people it would save more lives more businesses and save some of economy.
You don't go the cancer ward for a broken leg? So why not have a facility that just works on covid 19 patients?
I could set up a 10 thousand sq ft facility in a week enough room to free up the hospitals and to treat the problem covid 19.
That's something our government can't comprehend. What's the problem? Fix or tackle the problem it's that easy. If there is an issue we need to fix the issues
Just like the gun issue it was the Trudeau party that made promises to ban them now he tosses the blame on another government. Yet they knew where the problem was but failed to work on the problem.

The economic and healthcare damage the incompetents have done will be decades IF we can calculate it then. Suicides, depression, cancers and other problems unfound over the phone, job losses, failure to screen at airports and entry points and other issues that probably greatly increased the spread... total failures!

Well he did his best with the disaster that the Federal gov't gave him and I agree with some, the latest set of shutdowns etc. are pretty much causing more damage than helping in regards to the people and the future. He was dealt a sh** hand through the incompetent Libs, did pretty good but has continued down the wrong path to the dead end. At this point it has become more about politics than prevention in reality, just look at Justlied talking about a "reset", attacks on Thanksgiving, November 11th, Christmas but willingness to charge out to virtue signalling parades.

Not just Toronto but in most major cities.......
As a company why pay millions in rent for your downtown office when you have employees doing their job effectively from home or remotely. Not saying companies will abandon their corp office but I can see it shrinking dramatically to just support level and C suite saving companies money and making most employees very happy. Same with people that live in Toronto - those that have the financial means will leave the city leaving those who do not have the means to leave. Condo prices in Toronto are down 20% YTD, and I suspect homes will follow if this trend continues, just not as steep as there is not the same supply available. If you live in Toronto, have a family, and are working remotely and do not need to be in the city why would you stay?
Going to be interesting what happens if crime keeps increasing, infrastructure spend decreases, well paying jobs move out of the city, & taxes increase. This is also what many of the US cities are now facing.
