    Skit to prove a point:

Judge: MP. you admitted to committing a crime on a Hunting forum, did you have a loaded firearm before legal time ?

Me: No your honour, I told a fib on Social Media.

Judge: Prosecutor do you have proof he had a loaded firearm before legal time ?

    Prosecutor: NO

Judge : case dismissed....and don't fib on social media !!

I stick to the times as well. We were checked almost two hours before legal light up moose hunting in the NW...we had driven close to a block we were going to hunt, had a snooze, then waited for legal time. All guns were properly encased.
So, it can happen. Not worth the risk!

I believe it's been one of the most commonly laid charge by CO,s.

I believe BM is talking a scenario when your back in the bush in your stand/blind 45 minute before first light. Not when you still in the parking lot. HaHa.

You seriously think they would just let you go without paying for any Legal or Court costs?

I can tell you from personal experience that they do it, the same COs that cover the area you hunt. Last year while I was leaving the Marlborough forest at the end of a muzzleloader hunt, the access trail was blocked by a COs truck. It was well beyond 2 km into the bush and it was after dark. I was thoroughly checked as was the guy coming out after me. The CO actually asked me if there was anyone else around, and I said I saw another truck when I drove by, but nobody was in it at that time. This guy then pulled up behind me and was checked. The fact that I was out before him probably saved him a fine, unless he had encased his gun while he was walking out. Mind you, this is on public land, not private.

Public, private makes no difference, my camp was checked by a CO who walked all the way in from the public road, leaving his ATV at the gate, this was on a Sunday morning.I wonder what some of these guys think they do with all those ATV,s, no guys they are not for washing on the MNR yards only.LOL

That's pretty much what I was referring to MP. I wouldn't shoot, nor have I shot, anything prior to legal time, which my GPS gives me the precise minute of my location. Also, for the record, I rarely hunt the half hour after sunset. Too old n decrepit to be tracking and then gutting a deer on my own in the dark. Rifle is always unloaded and encased to n from.

Well at least you are admitting now your old and decrepit. But you have also admitted you commit and offence by having your gun loaded and not encased.
When the MNR come to your door better stick with the old defence " I,am old and decrepit, that should probably work" LOL
