Once they take your guns and arrest you then the onus is on you to get your stuff back and clear your name, innocent until proven guilty is a myth.
I can agree with those points. A former well respected teacher of mine was charged with careless storage and lost his entire collection, hundreds of thousands if not more in rare prohibited and vintage collectors firearms. This guy was extremely careful and was a pillar of safety being a machine shop teacher. I know him and I know the type of person he is and if anyone could steal his guns it would be nothing short of a miracle. Well it happened and he lost everything and now has to fight to get it back, so I can agree with it being impunitive in that respect however I do not believe its intentional. I believe they have to set a standard and draw a line in the sand somewhere and unfortunately it can be perceived as unfair as in this mans case. You can have the best safe in the world and bury it in concrete but if someone can get your guns you get charged, this I do not agree with.

Heres another scenario just for fun, somewhat related somewhat not and just something to read and think about:

My grandmothers partner has a lifetime ban on owning firearms from previous convictions. Hes got dementia and started an argument which turned almost violent and kicked my poor grandma out on the street. The local police got involved and it was discovered that he was in possession of multiple firearms a 14ga and .22 and they were not locked up and very carelessly stored in a garage filled with junk anyone could have broke in and got access to the guns. The police called my brother as my grandma informed him he is a legal gun owner and the police simply gave him the guns. No report filed, no charges, nothing at all! So even a lifetime ban on firearms and local PD doesn't even give a rats arse. Was it too much ppwk for them? WHY was this man not charged and how does local PD have authority to give his illegal guns away with zero record of the incidence. Compare that to the other example and it makes your head spin. So yea vague laws and the enforcement of vague laws can be disappointing.

So it just goes to show how different scenarios play out and each LEO can handle situations vastly different. Yes I agree there are some perceived fairness issues but my point was that I do not believe lawmakers (not enforcers) make laws to be impunitive on purpose, however I will agree they can be impunitive given differing circumstances.

Hey Scooter (such a fitting name)
I think you meant drivel not dribble and the term is fill your boots not fill your boats (if you are going to quote a Newf ya better get it right b'y). I tell my copy buddies that joke all the time - because it is so true. If they stopped drinking, divorcing and feeling sorry for themselves maybe the fire fighters would look up to them.........naaaw who am I kidding - LOL. They are the cheapest guys I know (even cheaper than teachers). Cops are the only guys I know that spend way too much looking for a ball in the fescue - not for the penalty stroke but because the ball is worth $3.

You definitely have some twisted mall cop logic going on. Tell you what Scooter........you know jack about me, and yet you assume I have an guns stashed at my cottage and that I am an irresponsible gun owner. That is brilliant logic......talk about using your head for nothing more than keeping your ears apart.

I'm glad you are retired from Square One and are now on here spreading your joy filling our days with incorrect grammar laced rants about the joys of Liberalism.

Well let's wade right in here John this should be an electrifying experience. So your a hydro meter reader in Burlington,it must be hard for you to go around all those Liberal supporters homes and read their meters. Are you still using a pencil and paper or do they give you one of them electronic readers.
Now I know you do not have a cottage because you said so in your silly post that you know about some anonymous cottage owners who do not store their guns properly. So you probably are invited to other folk's places because you cannot afford your own cottage or cabin. The same way that you also appear to have to beg permission from other land owners even to conduct your hunt. That is OK one day you will make it and be able to buy your own place.Heck I might even invite you up to my place.
I am sure you are a responsible owner but personally if I were you I would not advertise all that ammunition and the fact you have that Ar 15 in your basement. Why don't you sell that paperweight and use the money towards a hunting camp or even more golf, after all it's going to do you no good.
So SPARKY do you like the name, kinda matches with Scooter, I think I have had enough fun with you for the moment, over and out from Square One.
P.S. I will let you into a secret OMERS our pension fund actually owns Square One.I hope you shop there.

Now I want you back out there tomorrow bright and early to work to keep me in the lifestyle I am accustomed to.Roflmao

Scooter - OMG you can connect the dots.......and all this time I thought you were an idiot. Electrician - yes I am a master electrician, and feel free to call me sparky, but sorry I have not been on the tools for about 15 years now. Meter reader........come on Scooter, you can do better than that. But I do have a very profitable business partnership with people that do electrical work should you need anything. We even give senior discounts for those on a fixed income and all.

Why would I sell an AR? This ban will never go through my friend. You are the only guy that punches......sorry that had to punch a clock, and I am sure you were a good worker ant. I have not punched a clock in years and have no intention of starting now.

Not sure why you would want to own a hunt camp to drive all the way up there and get skunked. But good for you.......great effort.

Well clearly I did not get skunked as I posted the results on here, but good try Sparky.I think you will need to stay at a meter reader if I,am a mall cop LOL. I have not worked since 2002,been a long and enjoyable retirement thus far.I might need to take you up on your offer for seniors however, I just need about 20 hydro pole along my roadway into the cabin, can you fix me up?
In the meantime I need you back at work to keep those cheques coming in.Over and out from Square One.

    Scooter,
Since we are getting to know each other better I am not sure if I should call you by your real name Terence Denvir........ or do you prefer Terry. You can call me John or Sparky, I will answer to either.

I am not sure where you have been in the last 10 years but Burlington Hydro does not use meter readers anymore. You see the new meters that the previous Wynne Gov't pushed through communicate automatically via RF or cell rendering the 'meter readers' obsolete. The only utility that still require a meter read now is water, and I cannot believe they have not figured something out by now.

I can definitely help you on the hydro poles - one of the guys in our group has a bucket truck but they are not cheap. We wired a trailer park in Southhampton 2 years ago - ran 12 poles and added electricity to 30 trailer sites.
Depending on the ground conditions you are looking at anywhere between $1,500 and $2,000 per pole supply & install. HydroOne only services the first 30M so there will be an isolation switch located here and the run to your cabin is on your dime - cable, pole, pole hardware, and transformer (which will be located on the pole closest to the service entrance into the cabin). All in you are looking at anywhere around $60,000

To be honest I would look at a solar option - $20k - $30k depending on your capacity requirement as Hydro rates up north are heading up as they are removing the seasonal rates on many cottages and most people will see a 30% rate increase. As PV systems become more popular it is driving the cost down and efficiency up (Swanson's Law - Google it I did not make it up). You will not re-coup the cost of installing electricity in a hunt camp or even a lakeside cottage when it is time to sell it unless you can share the cost with a neighbour.

Well I have to run - PM me if you have any other questions (seriously) I have a couple of conference calls I need to prepare for and I am golfing at 1PM........nothing like punching a clock buddy!
