I don't necessarily disagree with you but it would take decades to turn around what is already in place. At one time police officers could use their discretion in a lot of circumstances and the job got done. With successive governments of both stripes that has been eroded and the officers today are drawn from the population of citizens now in Canada.

Which makes more sense going after gang bangers or going after lawful owners and yes it is that simple?

The statement that these are dangerous guns because they look military, does that mean if I put a military stock on my Mossberg 835 it becomes more dangerous?
    Trudeau's government indicated it did.

    Rick,

I am again confused by the position you take on these matters along with those on the forum,IS THIS THE SAME RCMP you guys lambasted for their handling of the High River incident gun seizures. Is this the same RCMP who re classified all those guns
that you guys are upset about? Is this the RCMP who has such a "toxic" workplace that they are being sued by their own members and have their own commissioner on the telly the other day saying she is going to sort out this mess?

You should know the difference between the RCMP member on the road and their senior admin. Kind of like the MTPA, and the corrupt lying ex-chief....Billy Liar !
This is the position of the union, not the powers that be, you know, the men and women who are actually doing the work. For the most part, they are as fine a group of professionals, anywhere. Their senior command...not so much ! There are, and have been serious problems with their senior admin for years. I did a secondment to them back in the late 70s, early 80s. There was real problems then, and from all accounts, there still are.

That's part of the problem in our society today, so many are taught that it's ok to live off the avails of others. It's the liberal way! No responsibility for themselves, no care about who looks after their basic lifes needs, as long as someone else will do it for them.
I would much rather live my life and end my days with "pride" than with shame. Obviously there are many out there who haven't grasped such a simple concept?

The toxic workplace problem is not being perpetrated by senior management that is at the rank and file level. The RCMP in my estimate have always had money to throw around but lacked street wise officers, most RCMP were trained in drug enforcement
and undercover work by big city police.A new RCMP recruit should be seconded to a large city police department for their first two years, that would get them up to speed right away and set them up for the rest of their career, they would also learn what city life is about.
