That is why it would be interesting to push it into a courtroom...basically put the whole 'lockdown' on trial. As we have already seen, there really is no immanent threat to the greater population. The pandemic is adversely (medically) affecting less than 2% of the population. The vast majority of the hysteria is media fabricated.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark...be nice to see it bought out into the light of a courtroom.

You want someone to sue the government? All of them? Who would pay the settlement, us the taxpayers? The health department, again us the taxpayers. Any scenario, we pay.

Not unless everyone in the place got COVID, and it could be proven .... Even then, I doubt it meets the standard..

Whether the current government lock down constitutes wrong doing where the businesses in question are concerned is debatable. That being said if a democratically elected government is practicing over reach where the rights of people/business are concerned they should definitely be held to account. If the only way to do it is to sue them and impose fiscal penalties than so be it. The people who elected the over reachers are ultimately those responsible for said government's actions and if that means they pay than they pay. The government should not be allowed to get away with wrong doing because correcting it will cost the taxpayer.
Mc Squinty Liberals when they canceled the gas plants are a perfect example. Total violation of signed contracts and as a result the taxpayer was subsequently on the hook for significant fiscal penalties (>$1 Billion)

So in this case , would it be the city who asked for the lockdown, or the Provincial Conservative government who pulled the plug? These lock downs are not mandated by the federal government, ......yet.

My guess would be the province as the power to issue orders resides with the Medical officer of Health in any given region regardless of where the lock down request comes from. The MOH receives their funding regionally within the province but their power comes from provincial legislation. My guess is that if a suit were ever launched though it would name every level of government as the modus operandi is to throw darts at everyone and see what sticks. The provincial Emergency Act also plays into things.

OK. Here is a head scratcher.
On the news today( ABC, CBS, NBC ) not sure which network, they were reporting that a county in Colorado is seeing up to 100 new Covid-19 cases per day...in a county of 13,000 People.
At that rate the pandemic would be over there in just over two weeks time.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

I have no problems to pay for a business that's gone far and above to comply with government, feeds, entertains and employs Canadians. A business that has far less or no cases at, while other businesses with higher cases remain open..
Yes indeed, I have no problem supporting my countries economy and the people in it, I don't support paying a convicted terrorist 10 million, and putting it on full display for all to see.
