    Default 10 Pointer down

Hi folks, The last buck I hunted dates back to 2009 during controlled hunt but finally after 11 years looking, trying different spots, planning, etc, I shot this 10 pointer with my Excalibur vortex. Went to the bush around 1:30PM to a spot close to a ridge to an open field about 80 yards long. I put some doe scent in couple of branches about 40 and 50 yards from where I was sitting. Weather was cloudy with a slight wind from north. Each side of the field is surrounded by bush. This is the spot that I have been there many times since last year. I had seen some signs but never saw anything. While siting, I heard some noise several times but later I realized that they are squirrels. Around 4PM, I heard something, but it was different. It was like someone is walking slowly and branch break. I raised my crossbow and be ready. As I was staring at that direction and hiding behind some cedar trees, I saw the antlers from almost 50 yards. The buck was coming to a direction that I put the doe scents, but he was walking very slowly. It took about couple of minutes when I was able to clearly see him in about 30 yards that gave me a good sight, Got my scope on his chest and I pulled the trigger. Direct hit and I saw him running to the bush opposite side. Waited for few minutes that looked like ages. Decided to start searching, went to the same direction, looking for blood but nothing. Started to get worried since it was about 4:25PM and I was under the impression that I might not be able to find him before it gets dark. Looking more and saw him piled up. He went about 120 yards from where I shot him. Lots of work for moving, skinning , butchering etc. I couldn’t be more thankful on getting this opportunity to get a buck like this one.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?
