I mean, if it comes to this, I have a few 22s and some bricks of ammo, including subsonics. Thats going to outlast a bow, and I can arm the whole family with them. We'll have every squirrel down and out before they know whats coming.

Yup, every prepper top 5 arms to have in SHTF is the Rugger 10/22, get a bucket (or 10), of 1500rds per bucket and you can take down anything in self defense or hunting with the right shot. 15,000 rds is a good start, and will last 2 yrs as we all know hunting is called hunting not catching or killing. Another stealth weapon is a good spring action or pump action Air Rifle, again storing 20,000 .177 pellets can go a long way small game hunting, including frogs.

HaHa..I hadn't thought of that in many years, used to kill Bull frogs on the farm with a .177. We had a plan to sell 'Frog legs' on the side of the road to make money to go to the Sat Matinee Movies in St. Mary's. Never sold a signal pair, so my Aunt would cook them up before they spoiled. Thanks Mark, a great memory I had forgotten.

We sold them live to the bait shop on stoney lake as a kid. Frogs worked wonders on the deep water smallies, the bait shop would take as many as we could find . I think 10 cents each [emoji846] was good candy money back in the 80s lol.

Weve all heard the story of a native woman killing a grizzly with a 22, but Ive seen enough first hand to impress me.
My grandfather killed a wolf that weighed in at over 90 lbs with a single shot from a 22LR at about 50m. Wolf ran less then 20m and died. How different would that be then a small deer? Not much Id bet

Yep.......I have 4 x 22's (pistol, pump, semi, and lever) and I am eying a 5th - CZ Canadian if I can find one
Ammo is dirt cheap so no excuse for having less than 2,000 rds on hand.
Also want to get a 800+ fps .177 for plinking

It is my most common calibre in semi and precision single shot. Yes, I have 10 buckets of 1500 rds. Imagine defending your property with 10 people all armed with 10/22's...the lead flying down range...lol

That is how we did it back home in NS in boat, on the lily pads, we would come home with 50 frogs or 100 frog legs and that was good day. Deep fired in batter is how mom cooked them...we had to skin the legs though..what a PIA.

Cool, my brother shot a DOE in the back yard at 40ft from bedroom window with Grandads Cooey Ace, single shot bolt, short barrel, iron sights. That Ace was deadly accurate out to 50 yards with iron sights.

Line...I have a pump action 22, that can throw lead so fast you would think that there is a group of people shooting. 14 shorts in a tube magazine that I can empty very quickly.
