One of the guys in my camp didn't want the possibility of his 40ish year old Remington semi 30-06 being taken away by the Liberals. So he sold it and got 600 and change for it and bought a new bolt action 7mm

If he needed an excuse to buy a new rifle,I guess that was as good as any.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

The downside of the older rifles is that they were full automatic (select fire). The next generation designed for civilian use were not,not one bit different than a standard Remington 742 Woodsmaster except it looks "scary". Snowflakes tremble in their boots and pee their panties.
The notion that because it doesn't affect them is folly of the highest order. Some say "I still have my rifles" misses the point completely, either,by ignorance, dogmatic obedience, stupidity or by being deliberately obtuse. In the short term, they're correct. In the long term, not so much.
Well brother I am not throwing in my lot with weekend warriors that want to play with their Ar15. When they go off side as many have especially in the good old USA it has affect's on us. So I am not buying into the old "your either with us or against us" notion that is simply bs.

So instead of Erin O'Toole dealing with the nation's real problem's you guys seem pretty happy if he deal's with your gun control problems, how is that any different and how does it help .So the hunters that use a Remmington 742 Woodsmaster
like me are not any more a snowflake than you are, just because we do not support guys running around with Ar15s.

So another little thing you might want to consider is the optic's for many new Canadians, they come from war torn countries where the guns used were assault type rifles, to kill and maim them and relatives. The last thing they want to see in their new country is the same weapons floating around in the hands of god now's who.

Except that an AR-15 or variant has never been used in a mass shooting in Canada, not once, and it has been around since its inception.

Comparing us to the US with respect to gun laws, or many other things for that matter is idiotic and proves how blind people are in this country.

Giving those folks who come to Canada from war-torn countries full credit for being as intelligent as they rest of us, I submit that they're well aware of the difference between "assault-style" (what a politically correct bullshyte coined term that is) and the real deal full auto combat rifle. They're not caught up in the nonsense because they're not the least bit fooled by semantics. I'm at a total loss to understand why people are so caught up in demonizing a specific rifle that works identically to your Remington 742 (except that an AR-15 fires a much smaller round). That simply defies all logic.

Optics !!!!! That has to be one of your dumbest posts, and there have been many ! So, “new Canadians” coming into this country will be upset because of a hunting rifle....so, are you saying we have to change our way of dressing, our holidays, our total way of life, because “ the optics may offend them !!!! You are way out to lunch there. Your Liebralness is showing big time !!!!!!

No kidding, I was wondering where Gilly sees guys with " weapons floating around in the hands of god now's who".

1st off off, since I left the military I've never seen guys with 'weapons' anywhere but on a Ceremonial Parade .

2nd unless these “new Canadians” or more commonly called immigrants, have stumbled onto a hunt camp or a shooting range while out on a stroll, it's not likely they ever see a gun, except maybe on a cop in the mall at the donut shop.

X2........Plus I just wish the Liberals would state why they are going after certain guns.......admit the truth......because they LOOK scary? Maybe because we are being punished for what has happened in the US? Why is it that legally owned property can be OK to use, under the strict rules and regulations, one month and next month it is a danger to society?

I guess if he can do that with drugs he can do it with guns. Pot was illegal and considered harmful & dangerous to society one month and the next month it is not only legal - the government is now selling it.

Come to my gun range and see all the new Canadians that are members. This is a SPORT........yep, a real sport and it is gaining popularity.

I take it you are also offended by the Lancaster doing fly by's over the GTA or the Toronto air show
