Anyone consider the fact that we are now entering a period of political unrest and the ban is simply to disarm extremist groups and prevent an uprising. These type of guns appeal to some more than others. Personally, I have no problem with any on the list as I regard firearms as a tool.
There is a considerable amount of P.O.ed people in Alberta at the moment and loudly voicing their opinions. Don't rely on MSM to report any of it. You have to dig a little deeper.

Hahaha! So its just guys with AR15 that might go postal....not the ones carrying semi .308s and 30.06 because of the wood stock?
Damn them black rifles must have a mind of their own.
What about all the new Canadians that come to this country from war torn countries and see all the HANDGUN shootings that happen daily in the city. All from illegal gun owners with illegal guns shooting each other over terroritory to deal illegal drugs...but ya the weekend warriors that shoot paper with their RESTRICTED 5.56 are the problem...what a crock of

We have been through this discussion before and even without researching I find your statement wrong:

I'm at a total loss to understand why people are so caught up in demonizing a specific rifle that works identically to your Remington 742 (except that an AR-15 fires a much smaller round). That simply defies all logic.

1st off off, since I left the military I've never seen guys with 'weapons' anywhere but on a Ceremonial Parade .
2nd unless these “new Canadians” or more commonly called immigrants, have stumbled onto a hunt camp or a shooting range while out on a stroll, it's not likely they ever see a gun, except maybe on a cop in the mall at the donut shop.

I guess if he can do that with drugs he can do it with guns. Pot was illegal and considered harmful & dangerous to society one month and the next month it is not only legal - the government is now selling it.

Come to my gun range and see all the new Canadians that are members. This is a SPORT........yep, a real sport and it is gaining popularity.
I take it you are also offended by the Lancaster doing fly by's over the GTA or the Toronto air show
Well I can always tell when I hit the nerve endings, guess what lads this is where the votes come in. If your a new immigrant coming into Canada from a war torn country, the last thing you want to hear and see is an assault rifle. After the Mosque shooting's in Quebec, the Ecole Polytechnic, The East Coast shootings, RCMP officers getting gunned down and out armed, its over lads, done deal.
And herein lies the difference between a Conservative its all about the "me" and the Liberals its all about the "we". So far the we side is winning here and now in the USA.

Licensed gun owners are nothing to fear. People that want to take away guns from licensed owners are the evil ones to fear.
