Very true, but don’t blame those that are now in their Autumn Years. We paid what was our share at the time. And we also have kids that we know have it much worse. I too took the path of austerity early in life t to allow me to have ,what I do now. Even though I can afford it now,I still have basic cable and phone plans. Basic cars etc. Nothing fancy in my life. I can buy what I want now, because I didn’t when I was younger.

R. That's right houses did cost that but what were our wages. Apples and oranges.
Even at 0% interest Gilroy assuming the typical stiff could Miraculously save $5,000 a year. It would take 20 years just to save $100,00 or pay off that.
R.If your typical stiff cannot save its their own fault. Heck I sound like a Conservative LOL
Nor did you have to squirrel for today did you? So what ever free money you had....
R. Free money, please show me the money?
Nor were you landtaxes outrageous because you more Gilroys to take care off.
R. Well the land taxes are outrageous because of your friend Mr Harris and MPAC but you already know that.
Nor was Hydro outrageous, there was no HST, or gas/sun taxes were nothing like they are today.
R. Again Mr. Harris who was going to slay Ontario hydro instead he raised rates and CEO salaries.
Plates didn’t cost $120, and there was no $1,000/year Health tax premium.
R .Provincial responsibility Doug Ford.
Data plans weren’t $100/month.
R. Your getting a deal I pay way more than that.
Compared to today Gilroy you got to walk to school downhill both ways
R .Your right I walked to school both way's and it was cold and rainy back home.

I don’t G. Times were different. 20-30 years ago.
I can “blame” them or more specifically their unions, for being greedy sons of es, and not comprehending what it’s doing to the working class.
And we can “blame” the beuracrats, and politicians who likewise don’t give a rats backside.
And we can blame people who won’t hold them accountable.

Well JBEN you and I are about the same age, basically grew up in the same era with the same mortgages and house prices and everything else. We even had the same illness , I had to stop work at 48 years old with three kids and a wife to keep and when I had 30 years on I was shown the door. No more wages. Take your pension and go sick or not.

I know you are saying this tongue in cheek but I am surprised the liberals don't believe this as they seem to believe the budget will balance itself.

We are not blaming you guys
Just trying make Gilroy understand what has happened. Like I said you 2 are fairly well of compared to the vast majority of Canadians under 50 lol.
I'm under 40 and have seen what most Canadians are facing. I have also seen a house in the 80s for 50 thousand now 600 thousand plus. But the wages have not gone up like that.

Check this out
https://globalnews.ca/news/3531614/a...-stagnant/amp/
Also the average family income in the 80s 55 thousand a year
Push forward 30 years and the average family income is 62 thousand. Wow
No wonder we can't afford nothing and houses are only 15 time as more now then then. . [emoji23].

Gilroy understands full well what you are saying but the demise of the middle class lies at the feet of the Corporations and the 1% elite. Everything is manipulated to their advantage, including house prices, please read up on REIT's and the elite worldwide
who will stop at nothing to get everything.
