Realestate has been on an incline since the 80s. Wages have relatively stayed the same eventually one will give

    Will it crash ?

There seems to be a lack of understanding of the basic principle that the "evil corporations" are what actually create jobs and wealth, not the government, and definitely not the public service. The public employs people, but it doesn't creates jobs - every dollar spent on it is stolen from the creators of wealth - the "evil corporations" or from someone working at a job they created. The wealth created in real estate markets, likewise, is powered by the creation of jobs in urban centres, again by the "evil corporations". The "evil corporations" centred in the golden horseshoe is the only difference in the value of real estate there and that of Pickle Lake.

Depends on interest rates. Bumping them up to 6% would probably wipe out the real estate market. Do some serious damage to the stock market as well.

No, you do have a vote on area developments, it is called the municipal elections. If you own property in a municipality then you have the right to vote in their elections.

Now, why do I so often talk about medians rather than averages?
Average's distort numbers. If 1 person makes $10 and 1 person makes $1 and 1 person makes $8 and 1 person makes $2. and 6 people make %5. What's the
    Average income
    Median income.

You want to tax the "rich" Gord?. Well your lowering the hammer on 1% of the population. That 1% that can and will just "move". No differently than companies have been for a long time now.........
You want to tax the "rich" based on net worth?
Then your taxing yourself and the GTA.......

Am I dead set against raising tax revenue through adjustments to capital gains?
Why should you be rich for doing nothing.....
    You didn't "build" anything
    You didn't employ people
    right place/right time. That's it.

Thanks to everyone building a world class city and that did not come cheaply......

But yes, those poor 3rd world peasants that if it weren't for my land taxes and patronage during the summer months

    ******************

Curious G, if we did actually want to reduce Ontario's emissions.....The heat coming off all those glass towers, concrete and asphalt......
might we not want to encourage people to live and work elsewhere?

If we did or you want to stop moaning about congestion/land taxes ( I know I did).
Would we not want to spread people around some?

If we did want to put the brakes on absolutely stupid R/E and Rentals...
Would we not want to spread people around....
    You know, share the wealth.......

Curious, where you think the money for that might come from..........So that people in Chattam/Kent or Bracebridge, or Gowganda can once again have decent jobs.....

As for Hydro and much much else.
    Youve lived on easy street......

and its Rural, Northern and small town Ont "thats paid for it"....Paid can have a few different meanings.

What happens if in 2 years the housing market crashed 25 percent ? How many people will that mess over . There will be a credit crunch soon enough . No more lending or borrowing people stuck paying hundreds of thousands more for what it's Worth. Taxes thru the roof

    It can happen

It might happen wouldn't that be a scary day . But it's ok lots of people will still be ok .

Debt, credit, liquidity. We got a taste of that in 2008. Might as well choke off the Aorta.

What's occuring now, in the 416 with Condos. And the exodus to outlying areas. Could be a good thing. But without the jobs.............meaning people aren't going there to work...
Well I guess we could look at the rich buying property or vacationing in Mexico/Cuba......Without the jobs/companies/infrastructure....I don't see that ending up well

I wouldn't worry too much about a real estate crash.
    Demand>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Supply.

    Possible?
Sure I guess. If a snowball starts...no-one is safe.

    Fast foward about 40 years.
Because tax payers paid for things like highways, airports, the 401, 403, 427, 410, and gave those evil companies you gripe about tax breaks to locate in the GTA. Those evil companies you and Gord gripe about not only employed all kinds of people bringing wealth and tax revenue, they themselves paid taxes ( lots of them) which added to ( your pay check and pension) and to your area.

    Further more,
because the GTA is a magnet for people and companies, thanks to the peasants. Your house has exploded in value. Not because you did anything to it, but for no other reason than right place/right time.

    Furthermore.
While the peasants padded your pension, other people like me, invested it wisely for you. Took advantage of those corporate profits you so often complain about.

So Im wondering just what exactly it was you did...............
So a lowly COP on the lowest pay scale with a wife not working owes it all to other tax payers?

I think there is a little more to the story JBEN your trying to spin. The infrastructure you mention was paid for by all of us.

The robber barons are the likes of again Mike Harris who privatized a public asset 407 Highway. Sounds like communism.

So you invested wisely but now appear to be on hard times and I invested poorly and now appear to be ok.

    What's wrong with that picture.

I, am the poster child for Conservative values and you look and sound like an NDPer.
