I have also tried to minimize watching or listening to the news.

Last spring when it all blew up, I figured at least the weather was warming up and people would be outside more where spreading might be lessened. Different story now.

And as I’ve said before, our biggest vulnerability is if our pals to the South can’t get it together - and I don’t like the trajectory that they’re on - since April. Almost 300 calendar days till they hit 9 million - 52 days for the next 9 million.

This is gonna be the longest winter of our lives.

Not to pile on with bad news, but some of the little pieces and cogs of the logistics supply chain are wearing out or failing.

Boss was chatting today..we need more trailers and drivers. Why? Because the smaller single truck and three/four truck operators are losing the maintenance and parts fight. They normally cover our extra loads, but without trucks to drive they can't.

In the last 10 months I have personally had three trucks end up in the dealership for repairs. Repairs that should have been a week are taking a month or more. Parts are running out, and parts are wearing out.
Six months to get a fan clutch on one truck. Parts warehouses normally have enough that if you can't get today, it's here tomorrow..
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

Been thinking about that SW.Supply logistics are hitting a number of industries.

A few friends seem to think only selling essentials (shrink wrap all else) is a good idea.

Point out, if you do that, you choke production. Why make what’s not selling. Or why make the stuff, that’s needed to make other stuff.

Is this where we begin to regret not caring about manufacturing?

Yep,it's Karma coming back to bite us on the arse. It's how we'll pay for listening to "progressives".

Unless the manifest is all Canadians coming home (again), then every other wanker on the flight should be sent back without touching the tarmac

    Been hearing this more lately.

International airports need to stay open because there are essential workers that travel internationally. These workers are essential to the world economy that our local economies are built on. The link below is a live map of all the ships at sea right now, every ship out there right now is essential for one reason or another. All these ships are full of sailors and specialists that spend months at sea. They don't live in the ports they visit and they need to get home to see their families. You can't just shut down shipping, just like you can't shut down trucking, this is part of the supply chain. COVID has already thrown a big monkey wrench into shipping, 1 or 2 month rotations have turned into 4 or 6 month rotations,. People are trapped on vessels because they can't get replacements due to restrictions or embassies being locked down so visas can't be issued.

International travel isn't just people on vacation, it's business.

We are seeing it in our business Trimmer. Inventories for a lot of things are way, way down. Had to get a guy approved for a 40k loan.
Something to do with his truck being dead. The needed part was going to be 6 to 8 weeks.

Another thing we are seeing is the US buying a ton. I'm guessing for the same reasons. Their inventory is down, so buy from here.

There's a part of me, that is ok with some comeuppance. It's needed.

Are the progressives really to blame for the loss of our industry ? I think it’s straight economics and corporate greed
