Would not Mulroney be at least partially responsible? The FTA is part of the reason we have less manufacturing in Canada than before. We send them the ingredients and they send us back the finished product. Caring about others , or not , is not the refuge of one particular party. The GTA was where most of those manufacturing jobs were lost.

Mulroney? You mean the PM who's been out of office for almost 30 years now? WTF - and I thought the blaming Harper 5 years later was bad.
FTA was just Mulroney being ahead of the times. If he didn't bring it in in the '80s Chretien would have brought it in. Trade is global now and there is no escaping that.

What really killed Ontario manufacturing was:
- high payroll taxes (including the hidden "taxes" like required certifications)
- very high energy costs
- anti-business Ontario government policies
- labour unions
