Good idea and you should be that person. You've had experience "booting people out",
and you are well respected here.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but,a moderator needs to be here monitoring 24/7. That's time I couldn't possibly find.

Personally I put a lot of the blame for this on our moderator. Instead of dealing with the trolls who hijack and ruin so many threads just for sake of stirring the pot as opposed to just offering alternate opinions she takes the easy way out and just shuts down the thread. I'm sure if she were to ban the two worst ones for a month or two that they would learn their lesson and back off on their chit disturbing that sullies the integrity of this forum. Yea sure she could turn around and point fingers at others but the truth is some folks just can't sit back at take the bull that is being spewed by them without responding. Point is that it's the ones who deliberately hijack threads and stir the pot that are ultimately responsible for all the turbulence happening even on non political threads.
Plus as we are seeing from some comments here it could result in a loss of subscriptions, I know I will be far less likely to renew mine.
Cheers

I wouldn't cancel my mag subscriptions or cancel my OFAH membership over some idiot trolls. That's like cutting off your nose to spite your face. If the trolls are bothering you that much, simply log out and never log in,again. Problem solved. It sure worked for me with Facebook and Twitter.

Well put.
We will also be putting out a call for more moderators in the New Year. More eyes means the onus doesn't fall on one person -- no one person has that kind of time. I do hope that everyone contributes a hand in housekeeping the Forum, otherwise it ceases to be a community. It's entirely possible that recruiting more moderators, too, will be viewed as censorship of a different variety, but it seems to be the most logical next step.
We'll be popping this in the "Announcements" section come January 2021, should you or any other members be interested.
Merry Christmas Everyone,
Meghan.

Trimmer.
As someone who has gone that route a few times because the aggravation simply isn't worth it. Yes it "works", but ultimately just leads to decline.

suck it up people or just move on.
Keep complaining and laying blame on the moderators and we won't have a forum.
Seems today everyone's feelings are hurt for one reason or another. And when those get dealt with someone complains about loss of freedoms.
You don't own the site, so your a guest. Don't like the way its run, move on. Its not about your "freedoms" when your on a privately owned forum.
Its great we have a site that most people are like minded and share good info. Steer clear of the off topic or political forums and most of your problems will be solved.
Or if you really can't hack it or feel you have been wronged......you know where the door is, just move along. There are lots of other sites you can go get offended on.
I for one appreciate the site and the difficult job moderators have. Don't wreck it for everyone with your complaining

I read this forum on Tapatalk on the "New Posts" tab. So whatever threads have the most recent posts thats the ones on top.....so its 4 or 5 political/off topic threads that are constantly on top from the select few that argue all day on them threads.
I dont read it very often but I find myself checking it out when there is 2000 views and 400 comments....hunting/fishing threads never get that unless it gets WAY off topic then its shut down.
Is it possible to make Off topics not part of the forum new posts section?
I mean I dont expect to just get rid of Off topics as it does serve a purpose, But when it's got the most traffic and new users come on and thats all they see is constant bickering and political stuff it will drive them away? Or just shy away from posting as all they read is people jumping all over each other all the time.

Problem is finding moderators who can agree with each other on when too much becomes too much. I absolutely detest censorship in any form but this being a corporate site they must be politically correct. I also hate political correctness so I wasn't much of a moderator for this site.
