Default Watched Regular TV for time in 10 yrs

So we have Bell Internet and Bell Satellite since August when we moved to the country (10 meg down - 1 meg up). The internet has down since New Years Eve - That's another story). SO I watched the Bel satellite for first time last night, even had to find batteries for remote to use it. Anyways, I am amazed at how advertising has changed (for the dumber), it is comical, the sales pitches now. Let alone how little patience I have for commercials anymore. But it is very interesting how "meme" like or "tik tok" like, the 30 second - now 15 second commercials are now. Used to be 2 min of advertising with 4 X 30 second spots, now it was 8 X 15 second spots- they have taken the attention span down to 15 seconds to sell. Anyways, I watched about 1.5hrs of Lethal Weapon 4 - before I could not take it anymore, between dumb commercials and just commercials. Another thing I noticed is 1300 channels, which basically repeats itself, but the content of some of the shows was just down right stupid - 30 second/day fiance???? WTF.

Anyways - it reminds of the Movie Gladiator - Senator Grackus - said - I think he (Comodos) understands Rome - Rome is the Mob - conjure up marvels and they will love him for it. This is mainstream media and short attention spans in which they cater to now. I didn't have the courage to try and watch mainstream news, blood pressure spikes..lol.

I only watch about 1.5hrs of Netflix per day...before I fall asleep on couch, the rest of my time is spent building, renos, planning new gardens for property.

Good news is my reloading room got lots of building and love over New Years - and is now back in operation with MEC 600 jr, 650 and 700, shotgun presses back in operation. The RCBS rock chucker is back in operation and new special base built for 2 X LEE single stage presses (mostly used for resizing and depriming operation and sit off to side. I deprimed 1000 2 3/4 and 3" shotgun hulls. Made another pd of black powder. Deprimed X 1500+, 9mm, 45, .223, 30-06, 30-30, 243 and 308. The Franklin Arsenal Case and prep station will be working hard the next few weeks after full length resizing. Went through lots of primers, so trip to Higgissons is on the agenda after lockdown period for more Primer and powders.

Ordered new casting molds for 9mm, 45, 223, 30 cal (with new Lee sizing dies) to start casting more and powder coating to fend of parts shortages. Maybe I am a little later to powder coating game, but it removes the need for gas checks with over 1800FPS with cast bullets. Fortunecookie45LC and Elvis Ammo (YouTube) have shown my why I should cast and powder coat, instead of GC. ..223 should be interesting at the specs I load for.

I can't watch network TV anymore Mark, I got the smallest Bell Satellite package (20 channels) primarily so I could get live news. My smart TV gets the Netflick /YouTube so I can watch commercial free TV.

Man it's painful to have to watch 'live' TV...thankfully I can save few shows like Question Period on Network TV to the PVR and fast forward thru the mind numbing attempt to social engineer what we 'need' to buy.

Same here. Cancelled everything and just get 3 over the air local channels. I am now shutting the TV off at 6:00 and no longer watch the news as all they do is spew Covid 19 propaganda ad nauseum. They even have commercials about it.

Netflix is OK but now find Youtube splicing in ads midway through the videos I like watching.
Difficult not to get bombarded with ads and in order to keep a healthy mind it is good to disconnect from everything on occasion.
I feel bad for the people stuck in a condo in this period of lockdown. It is 28 consecutive days of pure propaganda BS on their connected devices.

Haven't had any real TV for 3 years now, I just stick with Netflix and Prime. I get news on Prime and don't watch much TV anyway. $70 a month covers it all including internet. The thing that chapped my azz while at a family members place a while back was that there were weed commercials running and they were clearly aimed at younger people, kids! We can't show someone smoking a cigarette on TV without rating the show Restricted but we can have pot commercials in amongst a cartoon!

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

I've all but given up on TV as well. Unless we're watching something together as a family, I'm usually reaching for whatever novel I'm working through.

I haven't been able to figure out why TV is so lame these days and I think maybe it was touched on above. It's now geared to the short attention spans of today's society.

I should have mentioned Mark where you are you can get a handful of 'free to air stations' with a Digital Antenna on the roof. I have one hooked up for when Bell goes down. Excellent quality to...not like the days of old with bunny ears Haha...

I think we're dumping Netfix and then going to get 'YouTube Premium'. It'll be a wash financially and I find that I use Youtube more as it provides far more things I watch and with the premium you get rid of the 'ads' again. ...

    Good deal for $12 month....

When i was growing up,my family owned a TV tower sales and installation business. I've often thought about installing a "OTA" unit. It can be done for under $1200 complete, cutting the cord permanently. It can't solve the BS ads, but,it stops government censorship as to what we can and can not watch cold in it's tracks. If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Go to this link at TVFOOL.
Plug in your postal code and it will tell you available channels in your area.
You will be amazed at what a $30 antennae will get you for channel reception.

We also bought a Tablo PVR that records all the shows automatically for viewing at a later date. It is a must have for the Misses Y&R shows. It also has the commercial skip feature.
