    Default Saturday morning pair!

Get to a local farm this morning at 7am. Just got past the barn where you can see out in the field and I caught a black blob moving across the field. Binos up and its a huge coyote trotting across the field going about 500 yards away. I thought he seen me so I snuck past all the equipment and waited til he hit the bush. (Before shooting light)

Walked the low land to the next fence line where it was about 400 yards from where I seen the coyote go in.

7:30am now I'm set up against a fence post and start with a few barks and challenge howl.

Instantly a coyote appears not far from where I seen it last. Its standing there looking around then the big coyote comes back out and now they are both working their way towards me along the bush line. I ranged a few weeds at 300 yards and knew if they got much closer than that there is a chance they could wind me.

Then stop at about 350 yards and both sit down. I'm debating whether to shoot now or what but I'm still shaking from the walk in and excitement so I just wait. They start to walk in again sniffing everything on the way in. Finally at that 300 yard mark they both had their heads down in the same track sniffing. Aimed for the bigger ones head and shot.

Watched him drop in a heap and the female jumps straight up and trots 20 yards and stops and looks back at her partner....bad move. Got on her and shot again and seen her tumble.

Massive well fed coyotes. Both perfect pelts. The male weighted 52lbs and the female 37lbs. Skinning them both as we speak.

Ranged it after at 290 and 275 yards.

The 600 yard walk back to the truck nearly killed me.

I rug skinned the male coyote as I'm going to keep it. Got it stretching on a board now. Its even nicer than I thought. My favorite colour, Got all black tipped guard hairs and nice pale belly.

They are the nicest looking coyotes I’ve seen in a long time. We are getting a lot with mange....
