Has too much time on their hands
What a mess! Appears he did some harm to himself when breaking in.

I wouldn't have guaranteed it was bears until I saw the pic of the coffee pot. I've seen wolverine do similar damage and hate to say it but I've seen squatters and trespassers trash camps in similar fashion.

I had a couple of incidents of Bears trashing cottages in the Bancroft area many years ago. Owners claimed the damage with insurance companies that promptly cancelled the policies. That left them to find other high risk coverage at ridiculous premiums, but,it was either that or face mortgage foreclosure without insurance coverage. The damage the Bears did was incredible. Every square inch was completely destroyed.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

It doesn't look like a lot of damage...just a mess. I wouldn't bother with an insurance claim, the deductible would probably be higher than the cost to clean it up.

A friend of mine had a bear peek in to their camp through the window, the window broke. The bear had its guts dumped out by the plate glass window, he walked through the camp leaving parts of him all over the place, destroyed a few things and then broke out the back door to go die in the bush. They then put bars on that particular window.
