Anyone that says they have never needed the 2nd shot is either lying or perfect... since no one is perfect go back to option 1.

It seems only a complete Fudd would think that having the 2nd shot is somehow going to get people firing at 100 yards etc. Double barrel rifles, shotguns, crossbows, lever action rifles, bolt action rifles, semi-automatic .... ALL are used to give that 2nd shot. Idiots fire at geese 200 yds up, idiots fire their bows/crossbows too far and poorly .... but how many good shots out there can relate to a picture like this.

This isn't a bow most will use, age, disability, time, aptitude etc. will all affect how people hunt... we could all hunt with a 45-70 single shot, it would work... not well in most situations and not appealing to most but we could. We could all hunt without all those pullies and extra wires that are for lazy hunters and only let people hunt with bows like a long bow or like this .. *

The guy I bought a bunch of stuff off at a garage sale this summer hurt his shoulder and will never pull a hunting weight bow again (40+ lbs), I suggested he get one of the Excaliburs with a crank so he could still go out and I hope he does. On one of the Ontario hunting pages I saw a picture of a guy 75 with an excalibur, this would be perfect for him and if needed he could get that second shot.

This one looks good and the profile reminds me of one of the crossbows with the wheels and wires running all over, looks good to me and like the traditional or the compound etc. they will be used well by people that take (and have) time to figure the best way to use them and the opportunity and as for the Fudds that say that's not a real bow... well crossbows were found in the 1st emperors tomb in China so that's over 2,200 years and repeating crossbows like the Chu-ko-nu were considered as self defence weapons for women according to an ancient writer. If you don't use it and have nothing but saying mine is better to say.... shush!

P.S. 2,200 year old Terra Cotta warrior crossbow, it is probably 36" bow on it based on repo/oringinal? I saw in a museum.

Isn't it funny how all the guys that were dead set on "deer jumping the string, don't take far shots!" are now admitting that you can get a follow up shot on a deer you already shot at? Hmmmmm

My initial thought is “gadget” that will appeal to those who invest more in gear than skills and knowledge. Upon further reflection, I tend to agree with mr. Fox; this is just another repeating firearm.

I agree...nothing wrong with innovation, my not be your cup of tea, but to the next guy it might be the best thing since sliced bread. LoL

There are things with it I don't like, like the safety has to be manual engaged after it's cocked and the overall size (weight isn't a big issue) but all in all it's a pretty neat concept.

Price point, being an old guy it's ridiculous..but then I would never spend $50K on a P/U, times have changed

So get rid of the repeating rifles and shotguns then too, I mean, if you never have a second shot with a bow then there would be no need for a second shot with a gun.

I got 2 shots off at a doe and 2 fawns 2 years ago with the side lock 50 cal, smoked a tree and missed it, loaded and got the one little one sneaking past. There is a reason they brought out a double barrel muzzle loader and double barrel shotgun, it may not be for everyone but the idea is sound that a 2 shot crossbow will sell.

Think about this situation, you are party hunting deer during the bow season, or have an additional tag. A couple deer pop out, you take the first shot and know you nailed it, the sound of the bow does not scare the other off, it looks around, twang, 2nd deer down, nothing wrong with that.

Or in that situation where a big buck comes wandering down the creek at last light and stops about 25 yards away from your stand and you slowly raise your crossbow, center the cross hairs for a perfect broadside shot and then let the bolt fly - thwack! The buck jumps and and stops directly in front of you 20yds away on the other side of the creek - you are waiting for it to drop.......wait for it......any time now. But instead he turns, snorts and takes off.

That was my first WTF moment while bow hunting. I did not know what happened until I climbed down, & crossed the creek to look for my bolt (and any blood or hair) and only then did I realize that I squarely nailed a sapling that was 30" in front of where he was standing. Yep the second shot would have come in handy that evening.

Been there done that as well. Late December hunt and took a shot at a 10 pointer. He crouched and the bolt hit a tree behind him. He kept looking at me as I tried to reload my Exomag and cussed in vain as the trigger group had iced up due to a light mist and froze. The string refused to latch. Out with the multiplier tool trying to free it up and finally did. I was so exhausted from trying to pull that 200 lbs bow that I simply could no longer get a proper bead on him. I swear to this day he stuck his tongue out and simply walked away.

No no no, the only possible explanation is that you are a horrible hunter who should never be in the woods , at least some here would think that.

This is exactly why double guns existed, a 2nd chance when something out of your control happened. I had an uncle that took an open shot at a deer out in an open field, not a twig around, at the shot the one vane went flying, bolt went who knows where, would a second shot not have been nice in that situation.
