I can only imagine what authorities will be doing this weekend in my neighborhood. Last weekend there were huge gatherings and hundreds of cars parked with people heading out on a relatively small sliver of "safe" ice on cook's bay. I've lived in this general area my whole life and have never seen so many people. Not that it's any of my business, I didn't head out there but opted to find an empty forest so to each their own but I'll bet there will be consequences as a result of the optics.

The Covid-19 pandemic approach reminds me a lot of gun control. Instead of targeting problem areas, the politicos are doing everything except that.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

I will wait and walk out next week from my place it should be alright next week. Will not check again till then lol. No Rush the best fishing is still in March .

Exactly Trimmer. I’ve been referencing that for awhile now. It’s lazy,,easy, doesn’t require much thought or effort and optically. Good for votes.

Let alone avoiding singling out and pissing off you know who.

    On further thought.

    Let’s look at ice fishing.
Hut operators paying big prices. Very big, given it’s a short season in good years.

    Why?
Because Simcoe is an easy drive from the problem area. Same with Ski Hills.

As far as I’m concerned Covid is serious, and we should be doing what we can to limit the spread. So deal with the problem/problem people. Use freeking data!!!!!

Anything I’ve read suggest it’s not small business. Forget the fact, they more than anyone want this over. Forget the fact they have also spent a ton of money installing safety protocols.. By their very nature, they disperse people...

So try things. And if it doesn’t work or if more is still needed. Try something different, added measures. Instead, we see “gun control”. Shotgun approaches.
FFS I’ve mentioned it a few times. Why haven’t we been using RIDE since April. Random spot checks, different places each day. “Where are you off to”. I see your postal code is X. Work you say? Do you have anything that backs that up? Great! Have a great day and thanks! People on their way to parties might turn around. People obviously out of their zone without good reason. Thanks for contributing large to the relief fund.

Instead what we see are people paying very steep prices, while those who are the problem ( pardon the pun). Continue to skate through this, without a care. Many possibly enjoying it. Work from home and still get paid good $.

    They aren’t feeling it.
    It’s that’s simple.

Had to make my monthly walk to the post office last week, while doing so I payed attention to license plates on the vehicles jamming up main street. Brampton, Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, Toronto .... Dixie Ford, Peel Chrysler. Its like July long weekend here. This would be so much simpler for the people if the actual problem people were dealt with alas even Dookie Ford can't stand to piss off the Douchebag voters from the problem areas so he punishes an entire province.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

    Pretty much Oaknut.

A friend that lives near me, questioned on Facebook. “Can people still buy games and TVs at Walmart”...that started a discussion in his wall. Largely the “usual” stuff.

    My contribution.
    “Consider us and Lindsay Al.
How are going to stop cottagers, visitors, day trippers, whatever...............

Almost all options will be closed. All the small shops/services. We have far fewer options to begin with. Canadian Tire ( our biggest) is open, but curb side only. That usually takes 3 days.

    So for many here.
It’s going to mean trips to Costco, Walmart, Into the problem areas.....the hot beds.....

When they need to be bringing the hammer down. On the problem areas/people.

How bloody hard would it be, been since April. Aside from RIDE, stick a couple cops in parking lots.
“Is that really essential? Where you from”

People may or may not think that’s what they should have been doing since April.

It’s the fact!!!!! They haven’t. That speaks volumes

The thing is they cannot put a fence around toronto or close the border with quebec, people will scream rights and do it anyway. My area has one of the lowest active case counts in southern Ontario yet we are in full lockdown as well. I really do not suspect the people in the extreme north of the province to need to be locked down but people from the bad areas, who are locked down, have vehicles and will travel and they will get whatever they want, so nobody is safe.

They have not because it then becomes a police state and violates the charter of rights and freedom.
It is coming soon enough with their new electronic collar. Get the flu shot and they will issue you one with pleasure.
