How does everyone deal with puddle of water from all the melted ice, on somewhat warmer days ?

should I set up a portable floor for the hut as to not heat the ice too much ? maybe those interlocking foam pads ?

by mid day saturday I was sitting in an inch or two of water, and it kinda started smelling fishy .. talk about things u notice/gotta take care of when taking girls out . lol

Depends on how much ice you are sitting on !

Great question. Been there a few times. Looking back I just accepted it and dealt with it. Kept gear off the bottom and hoped rubber boots held up.

Now thinking of it for next time, what about drilling extra holes near and nearby to allow extra drainage. Maybe bring extra chairs or other larger items to keep items off ice.

I always bring a shovel, but planning for those days now possibly bring a push broom to push surface water into extra holes.
Now only dealing with a skim of water instead of fishing while standing in a puddle.

For ice hut, I do sometimes bring three rubber mats which have holes. That will give you an extra 1/2 inch to keep feet above water.

The Ice was 8-10" Id say, there were snowmobiles close by, so I wasnt worried about the ice breaking.

ill try the foam idea next time, although its getting cold enough for the water to freeze back up faster now.
