This forum is not going to solve the countries problems. View it for what it truly is, entertainment. Nothing more. Then you do not get upset, just amused, at the sometimes ludicrous comments, from both sides of a discussion. Some I fear are foaming at the mouth, their heartbeat is racing, as they type away. Life's to short.

It's all about where you are in life...like I said earlier, being retired I used to have time to sit in Tim's during the week and have a coffee with a few local guys where the conversation changes as often as we pass gas. No one cares.

No topic is censored and we our best to solve the problems of the world. It's called socializing and an important part of being human. Is it taken seriously (passionately)...expressing your opinion is...but expecting results isn't.

So when you pay a visit to the off topic forum, think of it like your walking into a coffee shop and seeing a group of old farts sitting in the corner pounding the table and having a few laughs. Just smile and either join in or go sit on the other side of the room....no need to pass judgements.

Agreed . As long as the forum rules are observed, no problem. Some do go overboard in their condemnation of others, and cross the line. People are not evil, despicable, reprobate, degenerate, miscreant, et al. based solely on who they voted for. Some things cannot be said in Tims if it is disrespectful of other patrons. You will be asked to stop saying them or leave. Like here, if it breaks the rules.

Maybe I should revise my earlier statement - I guess I only partially agree. I do think there's too much nitpicking going on, and too many political discussions. I do think that people should relax. But, I don't find the political and conspiracy theory stuff going on in the off topic section amusing, and the constant bickering and angst that those threads provoke irritates me.
The good thing is that nobody is forced to read those threads, so I generally avoid reading those threads. I do agree with an earlier post that if people don't like it, they should start threads that they do like. I'll see what I can do, but the reality is that for many people, there is much less outdoors stuff going on right now due to various reasons.

I have been trying to start conversations in the hunting and guns sections both for my own information and for others to learn but none have had much traction.

Interesting point. Where am I in life? Let's see.....my dad died suddenly, out of nowhere a few months back. My life got turned upside down. I'm sorting through a house full of items so we can determine what we will use and what needs rehoming. The data supplied to me was that my dad was one of the top ten posters on this site, and he was extremely knowledgeable. That knowledge came from life experience and equipment use. So I work a full time, demanding job and on the side I'm doing renovations by myself because the man who I did them with is dead. So no, gosh darn it, now that you mention it....maybe I haven't started a thread lately. Gee, I've only contributed to them lately. Shame on me. Too bad I'm not retired and sitting around more. Although, if I was retired, I'd be sure to be outside using all this outdoors equipment more

    Well said Burly Girl.

(Someone actually counted how many threads you've posted?... rolling eye balls)

If people don't contribute, start threats, stimulate discussions, they really have no right to complain what others are doing in their spare time.
I think somebody needs to "get a life" rather than sitting and counting threads!
