    Default January 29th smash fest

Well it all started the evening before went out and checked some ice what I found was consistent with about 2.5 inches to 5.
Was meeting up with a friend so I went to check it out before he wasted him time in the morning for unsafe ice . My phone was low and when I pulled it out the cold instantly shut it down lol. So I'm walking and checking trying to warm up my phone to look at the map . Well it kept shutting down lol tried to get the map up and I was logged out haha. Just my luck it shuts down again without opening, so I just went to where I thought was close.
Text buddy back when I got back to my warm car and told him what I found and said I wasn't sure if I was at the spot or not .
Said I was sure we could make it 99% of the way lol. His response was sounds promising see ya in the morning .

Getting to lot nice and early since I checked the night before I didn't need the sun up for checking that part was done. Soon as I get in the lot there is another buddy waiting for a friend to check the ice, told him I did that the night before lol. Told him what I found his friend showed up and I led the way out ,turns out I was out well past the spot the night before.

First holes I marked 2 fish come in a missed one but that was it for the first hour my friend didn't even mark a fish so it was time to move and that move payed off well. Not even sure we could make it the next spot as we could see open water in the distance we pushed forward . Get to the spot and within a few minutes we both are marking fish I missed one and buddy landed a nice laker . Few minutes later he had a few Whitties on the ice since I stopped marking I moved over another 100ft and got a nice whitefish top side. For the next 4 hours it was back to back fish ,it was so cold out but I didn't have to clean my holes the fish did that part for me.

In total we landed 23 whitefish was 22 and 1 trout that buddy got . Total tally was 11 fish for him and 12 for me . I also lost 3 fish and missed a few more bites. He kept 1 and I kept my 2 as I have a few people who I gift a fish to every year . All in all was an amazing day the fish slowed down after 12 by 1 it was dead and at 2 we headed in.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and stayed safe and dry on the top side .

Cheers till the next adventure buddy was back there yesterday and landed another 14 he will be fishing another location tomorrow as we always move around to different areas of the lake . Can't always fish the same spot it's better to learn the lake than 1 spot the 1 spot will only get you so far but when you know the lake you have plenty of options. It's a big Lake so there are plenty of great areas you just have to find them and staying at the same spot won't do that. It's just better that way even if you take a skunk, there is different fish in different areas you never know what you will pull up.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

From what I have heard great depending on the day and place lol. Haven't been since the first time. With no tournaments this year perching can wait till after the 15th of March. After we have ice over the big fish I can't stay away from them it's like a curse or something .

It's funny the guy I was with won't perch fish lol. Few other guys I know they can't stay off the jumbos weird how that works. Others go after both I'll be chasing after that 15 16 incher last ice . Just for a picture tho I let most of the biggest ones go maybe a measurement for a replica [emoji106]
