Default Covid media influence and propaganda

Canada is still in lockdown while the US opens up.
Fear mongering continues with “variants” of influenza while hospitals remain empty.
Does this make any sense to you?

Brian Lilley has a good article on the subject today.

    https://ottawasun.com/opinion/column...7-f200f1ee3417

“It’s quite the juxtaposition: Much of Canada remains under some fairly strict public health measures due to COVID-19. Masking, business closures, a curfew in Quebec and a stay-at-home order in Ontario.”

“In the United States, the opposite is happening.”

“In Florida, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis went even further last week.”

“We believe every job is essential,” he said. “You work in a restaurant, we have your back. If you are a hairstylist, we protect your right to earn a living and if you are a parent, we ensure your kids have the right to in-person learning. Lockdowns do not work.”

“Here in Canada, any talk of anything other than a lockdown puts politicians and their careers in jeopardy.”

“It’s a bizarre scenario considering that depending on how you slice it, all of these states can claim to be doing a better job than Canada’s major provinces.”

“There isn’t a single region where scrapping, or even relaxing, restrictions is close to being popular.”

“Part of this might be driven by the fact that Canada’s media refuses to consider anything other than lockdown harder and lockdown faster”

“There is also the fact that other than B.C., the major provinces are run by more conservative-leaning premiers and their opposition parties tend to scream for even more restrictions rather than allowing people to get back to work.”

“The public believes that this is the only way to deal with COVID because that is what it is told.”

“We need to start having real and balanced conversations about how to deal with COVID because we are a long way from being done with this. Vaccines aren’t arriving in sufficient numbers to end this any time soon.”

How true and states with a mask mandate on no mask mandate are doing the same .
So does the mask really stop the spread?

No mask's in Florida and they are open
Mask mandate in Texas same outcome as Florida.

That was our plan to lockdown but the lockdown was just supposed to be a 1 time thing to prepare for a reopening . We haven't done that yet . Our only plan was to lock down until a vaccine and now that has proven to fail with these new variants.

    So now what ?

No real plan to reopen yet just pissiing and moaning about how we don't have vaccines. The only thing we planned on to reopen is falling apart .

Who really is running this Covid circus show?
The public health units across Ontario are kept in the dark and even the top Ontario doctors appear to be as well.

    https://torontosun.com/news/provinci...spreading-fast

"Public health units have been kept in the dark about provincial announcements during the pandemic, making it harder for them to do their jobs, according to a new report from Ottawa Public Health.

The report calls on the province to hold technical briefings for public health units, which largely oversee the COVID-19 pandemic response at the local level, before major announcements are made."

“Finding out about new restrictions and requirements impacting local businesses/sectors at the same time as the general public” has been among OPH’s biggest challenges during the past year of pandemic response, the report said.

"That lack of communication with public health and officials at the local level became public late last year when Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said the city had been blindsided by the provincial lockdown announcement."

Now that they have come out and said you need to double up your masks..ie wear a surgical mask under your bandana proofs earlier observations that the Fabric 'designer' masks weren't going to do any good medically, but made you feel like you where at least complying.

Studies must have concluded that those mask were a failure and why the virus continues to spread. In fact the way people handle them more than likely contributed to the spreading.

Interesting that the provinces , as mentioned in the article are being governed by Conservative parties. They are blaming the response on the opposition parties. I was not aware that the opposition party, not the ruling party, make up the covid response procedures. Just a reminder, Ford has a majority. As witness by the passing of MZO's. He can't pass the buck on this one.... lol.

I don't think you understand the restrictions between what the Feds control in regards to Public health being provincial jurisdiction.

maybe the difference is the 10% of the US that has been vaccinated compared to our paltry <2%.
I would hope if we got the majority of our at risk population vaccinated that things would start opening up again in canada as well.

The various Ontario regional health departments are complaining about the Provinces lack of direction to them. Not the Feds.

This about says all that needs to be said.

"Here in Canada, any talk of anything other than a lockdown puts politicians and their careers in jeopardy.”

And certainly, here in Ontario, Between the Unions and GTA, Ford would be toast...Lol Hudak was made into a road stain, and obliterated for far far far less. It's not rocket science. Whether debates about cottages, small town, or lockdown, actual dealing with the problem. If you want a career in politics here in Ontario, you don't do anything that gets the GTAs and Unions knickers in knots.
