Default Crown Land Camping Lockdown? MANY questions...

Putting the fact that this lockdown system is vague, arbitrary, and unconstitutional aside. I have some questions

Question 1: From what I gathered the stay-at-home order ends on Feb 16th for most of Ontario. When the stay at home order ends, do counties go back to their individual colour coded system based on their cases? (Eg: county A goes back to Grey, county B goes to Red).

Question 2: would people that live in stage grey areas be allowed to camp on crown land after stay-at-home is lifted? I know private campgrounds have certain restrictions, but there's ZERO mention of crown land recreation for grey zones...

If you guys have any information on that it'd be great. But I have the feeling most of you know probably about as much as me...

I would but not keen on getting robbed by the government with an $800 fine. Tried last week at crown land nearby and was turned away by a conservation officer stating only hunting/fishing was allowed. Luckily this officer was kind, didn't ask for ID or give out fines (like most of the little-bigman syndrome jardheads do).

I agree. Not sure where you may have been that you encountered a CO, but unless you are in a provincial park or conservation area, I don't think anyone cares. Lots of people ice camping while fishing, but no issues I've heard of.

Thanks for the boost in confidence. This was in Chatham btw. Bummed out I didn't go that day but at least the CO was nice about it. Funny thing is I've hunted that crown land for YEARS and this was my first time ever meeting a CO lol.

I been to my hunting camp as usual, not letting the lockdowns stop it.
Way I see it if I'm there thats my home for the night or week, or what ever amount of time I sleep there over night is my home when I'm there.
I guess if your back to camp by 8pm your at your home for the night.

Also is the crown land you want to camp on normally unrestricted to camping?

Yup. Unrestricted. As all crown land is as far as I know.

Some townships in this area on crown now require road access permits, and mandatory booking of campsites. They limit the number of guests, vehicles etc.

Just get someone to drop you off and camp all you want. That way there won't be a vehicle parked overnight to draw attention.

I think as long as your group size is under 5 people you can be anywhere you want, even in lock-down. They might be able to ding you for 'essential' travel, but there is a big push with Mental Health issues and they are not allowed to ask that question.

I guess it also depends on what area you going too....outside of the urban areas, no on seems to give a rats behind about the virus anymore. It never hit most areas of rural Ontario.
