Q. Why were the Russians in there in the first place?

It would appear they desired a route from their oil fields to the Caspian Sea.

So they were there for their own need's invading a sovereign nation. America help's defeat them with the help of the mujahideen and arming them with stinger missiles. Then they created a vacuum and pop's the Taliban. They use that as a pretext for their own invasion and then Trump makes a deal with them. LOL

Come on. Trump hired the ‘ best ever ‘ then turned around and fired them all, a dozen of them. How is that deflecting. That is part of the answer. And the problem. If I were in favor of my 14 year old daughter getting married. I would be tarred and feathered. But chemical castration, altering a childs testerone/estrogen, etc, etc.....

I think it was arrogance of the first order that Russia or America thought they could breeze into Afghanistan when the British at the high of the Empire was soundly defeated and lost 10,000 men in the retreat down the Khyber Pass.

Trump had the right idea - bring our troops home - this Biden clown rescinded the order and wants to keep thousands of U.S troops all over the place - we have no business trying to police the whole world - I only thing I would do is give arms to the friendly side and let them fight their own battles - imagine the blood and treasure that this country has spent fighting other peoples battles - as far as the Middle East is concerned we should stay energy independent and stay out of there - Iraqi freedom - what a joke that was - Vietnam - Korea - Afghanistan - for what? - the stinking politicians get us wrapped up in all kind of wars while they cheat, steal and live the good life - if I was a young man I would never go into the service - I'd go to Canada like so many did during the Vietnam war - get killed or get your legs blown off - for what

Why the change of heart? Many of those wars were started and enabled by republican Presidents. Nixon, Johnston .,both Bushes. Republicans can’t take the high road there.
