    Default CTC log splitter deal

Picked one of these up yesterday. Regular $1799 on sale for $999.
It has vertical splitting and an oil filter for the hydraulic fluid.
Should come in handy in the next few weeks once the white crap melts.
I used to borrow or use my small electric 9 ton unit but now time to spoil myself.

By all means use your axe by the time you have a cord split with your axe I'll have several cords split with my splitter.

    That is a good buy..

I'm not sure about the Champion Engine, I don't have any experience with them. We bought a Troy splitter with the Honda engine just on spec.

What we did was buy it between 3 guys and we either help each other or just share it. Been doing that now for going on 12 yrs and the splitter still works strong. Each of us go thru between 20-25 face cords a winter so it does a pile of work annually.

I have owned at least 5 Champion engines over the years in various configurations such as generators, chipper / shredder and not one has ever let me down. Besides, Princess Auto carries replacement engines on sale all the time for a couple of a hundred bucks so no concern. I could always break the bank and put a Honda on there as well if the bug ever bites me. Simple hydraulic system. Nothing to it really.

If I can make a suggestion? You may want to incorporate some sort of guard over the engine? I guarantee, at some point, a big block will find it. But otherwise, a good investment. The vertical option is a huge bonus as we get older.

Nice looking splitter impact, you got a good deal there and I would say it will more than pay for itself.
