I'm somewhat with Sawbill.
Put 6 economist at a table. Given them data and a scenario, you'll get 8 different answers. However, the economist whose job it is to make the decision, well it's his/her head come glory or ignominy.
Tam may well be a token puppet. No different really than JWR, Philpott and Caesar-Chavannes.
In the end, we should be measuring against our own standards for mediocrity, success and failure. I think at best some things are mediocre relative to other countries, some things failures like vaccines which are an order of magnitude so much more important than near all else, very little/if anything a success. When after factoring in low population density, relative isolation ( just a border with the US), money spent, highest unemployment and sucking wind GDP.
Not sure how or why anyone would defend them, let alone reward them with jobs

But we knew months ago that this was going to happen. We knew the variants were going to turn into the dominant strains.
Give it some more time and a new dominant strains will take over in the next little bit . By September we will be approaching the flu season and we will be dealing with a new variant as the season begins.
The flu did the same thing did it not it changed all the time.

The surest way to end the pandemic would be to stop testing people. Anyone wonder where the Swine Flu pandemic from around 10 years ago went? They stopped testing people because it wasn't a significant enough health threat.

Well they claim nobody is safe until everyone in the world is vaccinated. Well that's going to be a few more years still. They are hoping the world is vaccinated by 2024 and that would be pushing it.
If turd boy keeps his hands in the the donation bin for the poorest countries ,there will never be enough for the world haha lol.

On the tube today, 14 more reported B117 variant cases in Ontario today.
Oh and the variants are twice as contagious according to the MSM. We may be headed for another lockdown..

Shhhhhh, keep it quiet, we don't want people to know the truth.
Get in line for your vaccine and question nothing, people who speak the truth are the problem...

The name itself - "variant of concern".
Variants are completely normal and expected. Read up on RNA viruses. The rate of mutation is such that you would develop untold numbers of variants in your body alone if you got it. The question is whether or not any of those variants have an "edge" over the original. An example would be if it became unrecognizable to a vaccine. It would have an evolutionary edge.
Variants are only bad news to countries who have spent a fortune on vaccines for a virus from last year.
To anyone concerned with actually being able to survive a new virus, the more it evolves, the more likely you'll survive it. Viruses don't survive by killing their hosts.

They didn't open up north Bay because they had a few of the variant cases. North Bay is still in a lockdown because of the variant not because the covid numbers are high.
Would that be a scare tactic?

Not in the least. They actually had a number of cases involving, I believe contained to one apartment complex so they simply continued the lock-down for another week. Dr. Penny Sutcliffe was very blase with her reporting tonight of the slight increases in the north while the news cast tried to make it sound like the sky was falling.
As I said before the worst people involved with this covid thing are the media sensationalizing every little detail and you guys are sucking it up hook, line and sinker.

Seems to be a strong dislike of her here. Not sure if it’s because she is Asian, a women, or pediatric infectious disease specialist. Anyways you guys seem to know what’s best. Perhaps one of the experts here could put themselves up for the job when the conservatives take over.

I would be more than happy too!!! I can guarantee that there would be no more of this bs liberal drama but what do you expect when we have a drama teacher for a pm. Cheers.
